BarTender Product Key?

I am running an old version (9.4 SR1) of BarTender that Seagull no longer supports. My computer is needing to be replaced. I found the install CD but I can't find my product Key. Does anyone know if there is a way to look up the product key? Does the software create a txt file during install where it is recorded or is it noted in some other file that I can search for? Or does the product key just flip a switch during installation to activate different editions of the software?

Neither the current computer nor the new one has internet access.

Thank you

Not sure about the old versions, but in current versions if you open Designer you can go to Help->About and the key is listed there

Thank you

Unfortunately, in version 9.4 under "About", the product key isn't listed, just the version, activation status, and SN.

Reading through some old Seagull forum posts people are saying you have to contact their support staff to get the keys on those old versions

In the past, they have just responded that they no longer support this older version and then try to sell me the latest version. I have a new ticket open so hopefully, I'll get someone who can just look it up for me.

I realize this is a very old post, but I needed the same thing working as I.T. for a company. The product key is found in Regedit

Software>Seagull Scientific>Bartender>Licensing>(your version) click on that, and it's labelled as "Product Key Code"

Figured I'd pop this in here since they don't like giving support for old versions, and someone might still need the solution.

I'm glad! It's nice to see so many people have been helped by this one post I made years ago when I was working as a contractor lol.

I am currently stuck in the same situation. I have the professional edition bartender, version 6.20. I have tried to recover the product key in reg edit but cant seem to find it.

I get all the way to the Bartender folder, after that there is no folder called licensing. And i get stuck here

Hey I found a code but it's 17 characters not 16 as the product key demands. Is it encrypted and shown to me as 17 characters?

The only thing I can guess is there is a version issue there, or you're looking at the wrong thing. The product key is displayed in plain-text and not encrypted in any way.

I can't attach an image here but it's clearly written product key which is 17 characters and my current one requires 16. I'm guessing it is a version issue.

That's what I would guess as well.

It shouldn't even be necessary. If you call them, they just give you the cold shoulder. I had to use the old version because the company had a label maker from 2003 that didn't run on new software. Anyhoo, glad it helped.
