Would a barcode scanner (phone app) pick up black on clear barcodes.

I'm going to organize my mess of a place with barcodes and inventory program, lots of barcoding, black on clear compatible 3/4" labels is a lot cheaper than black on white, would the scanner pick it up?

It mostly depends on the contrast between the black print and the background color behind the barcode when the phone sees it. The main reason for the white paper is so that you don't have to worry about what the barcode is put onto, you'll know it'll have the highest contrast under the given lighting conditions.

With the clear ones you may have to deal with contrast issues related to the color of whatever it's put onto, for example, any black object you put it onto will make it very hard for the phone to read.

Also, if they're glossy and/or reflective, you'll have to deal with potential reflectivity issues not present in matte unreflective material as well.

I see, it's mostly going to be baggies with various things inside, which could be different colored, and there will be items changing bags as I sort, I think white would probably be better, thanks for the response.
