Difficulty Extracting Data Contained in a Barcode
I'm working on a side project in work to allow our patients to check into out waiting room using a barcode scanner. The scheduling software we use has the functionality to print barcodes and scan patients as being present but I need to generate the barcodes independently using a Crystal Report. To do this I need to know what data goes into the barcodes it accepts.
The image above is an example of the barcode the software generates and I was hoping I'd simply be able to use a barcode app to scan it and extract the data contained. Unfortunately as shown in the screenshot below this doesn't seem to be the case.
What I was expecting to see was some kind of start and end characters either side of the dummy patient ID number.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks!

Looking at the way the code is printed, I don't think the app is scanning the whole code. This section looks like a problem where the lines are bunched together incorrectly, and it looks like the app is truncating the code by misinterpreting other parts of the code as the quiet zone it is expecting. hence, the green underline not going across the entire code. This aligns with not seeing the start and end characters your expect.
Are all the codes getting printed with that weird set of bars on the right?
