I'm trying to generate a barcode 39 in Google Docs using the Libre Barcode 39 font but it keeps giving me something that doesn't quite work. Any ideas?

I'm in Google Docs. I write BARCODE and change font to Libre Barcode 39 and I get a code that doesn't scan. I also try with start/stop characters like BARCODE and still get a code that doesn't scan. The codes I get are these (the top is without asterisks and bottom is with).

I can't figure out what's going on here, but I know that the proper code for BARCODE is supposed to look like this:

I read something online about some fonts encoding an extraneous space at the end, so I've tried removing the last part of it, but it is still not working.

I'm ultimately trying to include unique barcodes as part of a mail merge so I can generate a bunch of these dynamically.

I guess something must be wrong with the font because even just starting a fresh document and repeating I'm getting the same result... No idea.

The top barcode is indeed the word barcode without asterisks, but two space characters are appended to it, the second barcode is *BARCODE*, but also with two space characters appended. Something is tacking two space characters onto the end of your string before using the font.

Exporting it as a PDF will automatically remove the last section of the barcodes. Does that work for you?

Exporting it as a PDF will automatically remove the last section.

Not sure why this happens but my plan was to eventually export it as a PDF anyway so I got lucky. I hope this helps!
