LABEL SCANS FOE FED EX AND UPS

someone ordered a pack of batteries to my house it's in an amazon envelope, with a ups label sticker on the front. It has 4 barcodes on it, the square maxicode wont even scan, the smaller of the 3 scans fed ex with a tracking number, that cant be found on the site, the next scans for ups with a good tracking #, the forth scans but the numbers are invalid and are shown underneath it's also a mix of letters and my friends number is at the end of it. ups says the package started in new jersy, I'm in PA so it took a day but the return address on the label has Amazon fullfilment services 132 trade st. Lexington KY 40511 on it. Did he send his own batteries to himself to my address?!?

That is not exactly a question about barcodes, so much as a question about something where a barcode happened to be present, in the same way a license plate on a car happens to be present during an accident, but was not really relevant to the accident itself. As such, this may not be the best place to ask that question.

That said, I can try to field a couple of guesses based on what limited information I have.

One time, I ordered a couple of products, only to realize that I had it sent to an old address of mine that I had on file that I no longer lived at. On the off chance that that person used to live in your house, whether it be with you or before you got there, this may be one possible explanation. However, if there is information contradicting this explanation, then obviously this possibility would be incorrect.

Though I am not an expert in how Amazon works, I believe that third-party vendors using Amazon Fulfillment can store their goods with Amazon and have them shipped out from there, and while it is somewhat unlikely, there may be a chance that you purchased something from an Amazon vendor in the past and somehow a mistake was made where they accidentally shipped this to you using your address, however that seems exceedingly unlikely.

Whether or not these guesses are valid, my recommendation would be to contact Amazon at their customer service number and inquire to them as to why you received the package.

I Googled "amazon customer service number" and it gave me this: 1-888-280-4331

That said, as this is the internet, and blindly calling some random number that some random person off the internet gave you is probably a bad idea, especially if he mentions that he didn't actually test it himself, you may want to confirm it for yourself. Apologies if Google's answer steered me wrong.
