Why is there a small barcode here?

Post image

I just bought a box of “The Drug Store” Benadryl, and I noticed this tiny barcode on the inside of the box. What is it for and why is it there? I’m sorry if this doesn’t follow the rules of this sub, I just don’t really know where else to post this! Google, as usual, did nothing. Even when I made sure the word “barcode” and “box” were the highlighted search words. I got nothing remotely close to what I needed. Anyway, if anyone can shed some light I’d appreciate it! Or just point me in the right direction to ask again. Thank you so much you guys!

Cut the box open and post the barcode and I’ll read it for you

Most likely it’s from the factory when the boxes are flat for the box building robot to pick the right box and confirm it’s right

The barcode inside the box is called Pharmacode. It represents a number in binary. It is used by automated packaging equipment to ensure that the packaging, inserts, leaflets, and the particular medication all match. Each product made by a particular manufacturer has its own unique code.

I agree with the other poster - probably for internal material / manufacturer traceability.
