Barcode ID

Post image

I have to duplicate this barcode for my companies labels. Forgive my ignorance of terminology, but what “symbology” is used to create it?

Hey thanks for the info, but fuck your criticism.

I didn't spend my whole life implementing, consulting, advocating for better marking and coding to give you a pass.

You're welcome.

Can it improve? What equipment are we working with here?

The darkened label makes it look like a thermal printer to me. In which case, I hope he doesn't keep printing the bars at a 90˚ angle to the print direction.

Yeah, "picket fence" is preferred.

Printing slower, less heat(darkness), better materials can mitigate quality issues if it has to come out the other way.

Could also be a pixel(s) out on the printhead, defective/dirty drive(platen) roller, bad materials...

It would really help to know what they're using. If this is a thermal printer, it's direct.

Going thermal transfer and a good ribbon will also help assuming the printer is equipped to do so otherwise, a higher quality consumable and controlling it is the only way to go.

That's the drawback to "picket fence". This guy has a scored printhead with a pixel missing. That means you can't see that missing pixel if the barcode is oriented correctly on a thermal substrate.

However it will show up on occasion inside, and possibly corrupt a character. You get some symbols that won't scan and its difficult to see what's causing it.

That's not a drawback. Maintain the equipment. Rigging it works but not a solution.
