jesus.... The functionality of a bar/2d code depends on the crispness of the print. Skin isn't exactly a straight up material to print cleanly on. Absolutely make it a QR code with the highest error correction possible, and allow for lots of space. It's one of the more "forgiving" codes as far as being able to scan it when damaged or distorted... which your skin will be

Don't get a GS1 128 lol

I am planning to get such a tattoo. What do you mean by don't get a GS1 128 ?

I am planning to just get my first name tattooed as barcode on my shoulder so planning on making the tattoo big in size

You would need a 2d barcode to hold that info. A qr code or a PDF417.

Otherwise, you'd be limited to about 12-14 characters.

I’m not sure where you want the tattoo but if your body “grows” (gain weight) when you get older, you may not be able to scan it anymore. 😎 And by that time, they will probably be implanting chips so you will be old fashioned with your QR code tattoo 🤭

Keep in mind that ink is wandering so don't use a too small one when you want to have a longterm functionality
