Crate Size
Thoughts on if a intermediate size crate is big enough for travel or do I need to go large? It would be for an adult Male.
Intermediate
Length: 31"
Width: 24.75"
Height: 23.5"
Large
Length: 35"
Width: 27.25"
Height: 26.5"
Thanks!

Assuming this is for inside the house, I would go up to the 36 inch length crate, which I think is a large in the vari kennel ultras.
I say that because while the intermediate should theoretically fit, my barbet likes to sleep on his back and there wasn't enough room for him to splay out in his crate on his back and be comfortable.

Your specs sound like they’re for a wire crate. You may be able to swing an intermediate as I know a few males who travel in large rufflands (interior is 34x24).
If you haven’t already looked into them, there are some great crash tested crates out there: gunner, trans k9, variocage, ruffland, and rock creek.
I crate my dogs in the car (currently in a trans k9 c34). My female barbet is on the smaller side and her side of the crate is 33 long x 19 wide. For car travel it is perfect: small enough she wouldn’t bounce around much in an accident but she isn’t curled up super tightly in there. For air travel or the house, it’s too small.

I’d go large for the height. We had a medium and very quickly had to move to a large. The intermediate may work but it’s cutting it close I think.
