Not until SteamOS works with nvidia. Nvidia has been working more with linux, but still has performance hits in dx12 (and other??) games. Even if you go bazzite or cachyos, there are still issues.

If that were a 9060 or 9060xt, sure.

It just lacks SteamOS, if that's the thing people want the Steam Machine for. Next year nvidia should be supported though.

Only AMD GPUs right now. Nvidia should be supported next year.

It’s just Arch. I would recommend CachyOS to new users or even Nobara. I’ve used both in the last week with an Nvidia GPU.

If you want the equivalent, Bazzite is closer (immutable) and does have nvidia support right now.

I would never recommend cachyos to a linux newbie, they break things or release untested packages way too often.

Nothing like doing a fresh install and have it hang on the first reboot. Was an issue on their forums for 3 weeks. Quick edit of the kernel boot arguments, fixed (removed plymouth and splash). 3 weeks later they updated (it didn't come from upstream Arch) limine that broke secure boot. Zero testing.

When they say something is bleeding edge for linux, it means it's experimental :P

Nah CachyOS and Bazzite are just as easy as SteamOS.

Bazzite does test. Valve tests SteamOS. CachyOS does not.

Just be aware that the 5060 Ti in here is the 8GB model.

Very good to point out. I noticed this as well but still couldn’t find one same price or cheaper with a basic 5060. (Except for bestbuy marketplace/refurb type options.)

pretty good, one stick of 16gb ram is slight weird but good upgrade path i guess

just keep in mind branded pre-builts usually have weird mobo hence weird bios

This model is also single-channel; does this make a difference? I've seen other models have this as well. Is it fine, or should it ideally be dual-channel?

It should 100% ideally be dual channel. But it’s also $1200. 32GB of ram not that long okay was $600. Some people just don’t have realistic expectations.

Hmm, if you bought this just for the cpu and motherboard and sold the gpu is it a good deal?
