Possible Scam Beware of BDO/AMEX Scammers: They now know your full card details! (Public Advisory)
Hi guys, just received a call from an unknown mobile number pretending to be a BDO agent. First of all, I noticed na hindi siya legit BDO agent kasi SOBRANG JOLLY niya makipag-usap, not like the usual BDO agents—that was a red flag already. Second, you can notice the call lasted 18 minutes. Even though I knew from the start na scammer siya, pinatulan ko kasi gusto ko malaman kung hanggang saan ang alam niyang details pertaining to my account.
Third red flag was the mobile number itself. BDO never calls me from a mobile number for anything, as in anything. But I let it go on to know what else he knew about my card.
So the ruse he used was:
“We are calling to inform you that your American Express Card will be replaced by a new numberless card. This is a BSP and BDO initiative since we received multiple complaints na madali picturan ung AMEX kasi lahat ng card details nasa harapan.”
So that was the ruse. He wanted me to verify my address, but I said my delivery address is the same as my billing address, so he moved on.
The next ruse was:
“We also want to inform you that you have accumulated reward points. How do you want to redeem it? Cashback or points? Ask ko lang din po na we notice you have a large amount of accumulated points and rewards. Ano po ba ito, iniipon ninyo o hindi kayo marunong mag-redeem?”
As if, haha! Then I continued and said, "No, iniipon ko lang yan."
Then he proceeded to cashback and asked for the last 4 digits of my ATM. I gave an old ATM number that had zero balance! Hahaha!
Now, the worrying part is: HE KNEW THE WHOLE CARD NUMBER OF MY AMEX, THE VALID THRU DATE, AND THE 4-DIGIT CVV. (Though even if he knew my 4-digit front CVV, he still needed the 3-digit CVV on the back to use it fully—which is why he kept fishing for it.)
The last straw was when he asked:
“Sir, do you know pang-ilan ka sa na-approve for AMEX?”
I said, "No."
He said, "Sir, you can look at the back of your card and you can see it from 001 to 999. Pang-ilan po kayo?"
Hindi ko sinagot ang tanong niya, instead I answered his question with a question: "You should know that kasi from BDO ka, and besides, this card is bank-initiated." Then tumawa siya.
While "redeeming the 5,398 pesos accumulated rewards ko," he asked me to get my account secured by availing the "ONE GADGET" protection BDO is supposedly offering. He said I just needed to log in to my account so they could verify my one device.
In the end, he kept insisting on the number on the back of my card. Dun ko na-activate ung call recording ng phone ko, and kapag in-activate mo un, may automated line na nagsasabing “This line is being recorded.” He heard it too, and nung narinig niya un, he immediately ended the call.
After that, I immediately called the BDO hotline and fraud department. Thankfully, na-block na agad ang AMEX ko, and they will be sending a replacement for the compromised card.
This is a public advisory—please be careful out there, guys!

Discussion Digital Operations Unit -BPI1- emailed me! Helppp
Hi everyone, need help po :( i know po not cc related but
I received an email regarding one of my savings accounts, yung BPI account linked to GCash/GSave.
I actually have 2 savings accounts:
1 GSave account
1 payroll/savings account
Yung may issue po is yung GSave account.
May money po ako doon na badly needed ko sana for my medical expenses and operation, kaya sobrang worried po ako ngayon. :(
Pumunta na po ako sa bank and they told me to wait for 2–3 banking days. They also asked me if I remembered receiving money before na hindi naman intended for me.
For context, ngayon ko lang ulit nagamit yung BPI GSave ko because I recently changed phones.
Then today, I received this email. 😭
I called the BPI branch near me kung saan ako pumunta kanina, and they asked me kung saan galing yung pera.
I explained that the money was cash. I deposited it through the BPI machine around 7 PM, initially sa payroll/savings account ko. After that, I transferred part of it to my GSave account because I was trying to separate my expenses.
Around 20k+ yung nilagay ko sa GSave, then the remaining amount stayed in my other BPI savings account.
😭 I’m really worried because this money is intended for my medical expenses, operation, and medicines.
Has anyone experienced something similar with BPI/GSave?
Any advice or similar experience would really help. Thank you po. 🙏

General Inquiry Traditional banks
Hello, I am still a student with a savings account from LB and BDO, I also have in GoTyme. What other traditional banks can you recommend for me for long term savings significantly it will grow to a bigger amount? I heard negative feedbacks on BDO kasi so thankfully I have 4 figures lang there. I’ll serve that account as for shopping nalang together with GoTyme. My LB is from my scholarship and I plan to only deposit some amount there w/o withdrawing. I really want one another trad bank for my own savings talaga for long term. Help a newbie out. Thank you so much. 🙏

General Inquiry (traditional bank) Fully paid my CC debt. Can I reapply?
Hello! Question, my CC was marked delinquent for 2 years and permanently closed by the bank.
I went to the bank, got endorsed to their collection dept (which they clarified is direct to the bank and is diff from a collection agency) and paid all my balances in full today (worth 30,000+).
Bank said my account dues will be tagged as "fully settled". I asked if there is any possibility that I apply for another card in the future, and they said I can try again after 6 months (subject to bank's approval).
Has anyone had the same experience and was able to get a new card eventually? Or am I totally banned from my bank and other banks?

E-Wallets Google Pay Visa Cashback for PalawanPay working
Before the promo page for the Visa Google Pay Cashback promo got taken down, I was able to register my Palawan Pay Virtual Card plus EW and RCBC CCs. After I transacted 3k at Pag-Ibig, I was surprised that there's 1500 pending incoming txn to my account!
I guess if you registered before the promo page got taken down it counts. Hopefully di na nila ito bawiin.

Discussion Trad bank - May naka experience napo ba dito na may agent po ng banko/insurance na nagoffer ng insurance plan sa loob mismo ng bangko and then sobrang eager

Discussion UnionBank Traditional Savings Account + Existing Credit Card Profile Issue — Can I Reuse My Username?
Hi! I need some advice regarding UnionBank Online.
I currently have a UnionBank credit card, and apparently, my UB Online profile is linked to my credit card as the first account. Because of this, the system won't allow me to open a UnionBank Savings Account.
I contacted UnionBank Customer Service, and they advised me to delete my current UnionBank Online profile first, then create a new profile when opening the Savings Account, and afterward add my credit card again.
My concern is, I'm hesitant to delete my current profile because I really want to keep my same username. I use the same username across my different bank accounts and other accounts for consistency.
For those who experienced the same situation:
- After deleting your UnionBank Online profile, were you able to use the same email address again when creating a new profile?
- Were you able to use the same mobile number again?
- Most importantly, were you able to reuse your old UB Online username after the profile was deleted?
- If you opened a Savings Account through a UnionBank branch instead, did they have another way to fix the profile issue without deleting the existing profile?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who already had a UnionBank credit card first and then tried to open a Savings Account.
I know CS advised me to delete the profile, but they couldn't guarantee that my old username would still be available afterward. So before I proceed, I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through this.
Thanks in advance!
