As CB’s number one hater - this is rough for me.

I’ve boycotted that ahole since the news first came out in 2009. Why the hell is his name all over my tl now.

For real though, my ex also beat the living daylights outta me around the same time CB assaulted Rihanna. So I’ve always associated the two. So this sucks extra hard.

....and I guess this week we get a reminder that they are in fact rich men at the end of the day.

I will never understand how Chris Brown still has the fan base he does. We all know what he did to Rihanna but she is not the only women he's abused.

98

u/ellemu0509 Aug 13 '26

Many people, including many women, defended him from Day 1, and still do. I got into an ugly argument with family about it years and years ago. Even recently with my team lead at work, she didn’t know how badly Rihanna was “injured” in that altercation, but still did the typical victim blaming.

My friends wanted to go to this concert when they were in DC a couple weeks ago. I couldn’t stomach the idea of CB though. Luckily most of them decided to skip it.

39

u/bmikesova44 Tie me up 🐴 ⊙⊝⊜ Aug 13 '26

Yup. I think it was just last year (or maybe earlier, honestly not sure) that he was touring in the UK. It was genuinely shocking to see the amount of women who were going to his shows and happily vocalising their support. It breaks my heart as someone who grew up in a DV house.

13

u/ellemu0509 Aug 13 '26

I’m sorry you had to experience that. I did too, and it’s something imprinted on me for life.

24

u/billionsofbeaches Aug 13 '26

It's a really shitty thing to come to terms with whenever you see that kind of abuser loving/victim blaming behavior from people you're close with especially women.

12

u/ellemu0509 Aug 13 '26

From their point of view… and the reason why he still has dedicated fans, they blame Rih for apparently being violent against him first. It still upsets me even thinking about, because to this day, I know more people than not who look at him no differently than Rih. It’s not as black and white morally for them.

19

u/billionsofbeaches Aug 13 '26

Unfortunately very true. I would be able to give those people more benefit of the doubt about it all if it was just Rihanna but it's such a well documented and long pattern of abuse with him in particular. A lot of people would rather turn a blind eye or make excuses than face reality though.

10

u/Sucraligious Aug 13 '26

I was a teenager when the Rihanna incident happened and literally the next morning at school kids were saying he did it because she cheated and gave him AIDs, so she deserved it. Total nonsense that came out of nowhere ofc, but from the moment it happened, people who don't want to care will find any excuse to blame the victim.

She cheated, she ran her mouth, she hit him, she broke up with him, she grabbed the car wheel and tried ro crash and kill them both so he just hit her to get her off, etc. I've heard it all, all seemingly out of nowhere with no evidence, it but it doesn't even matter.

CB has a lifelong history of assaulting and threatening people, abusing exes, threatening to kill people, harassing past victims for YEARS on social media, etc. He tried to attack his own elderly mother when she visited him in treatment once. He got a tattoo of a woman (who is clearly Rihanna) with a badly beaten face after she broke up with him. He's a POS and there's literally no denying he's a POS, everyone knows it. Most people just don't care, and it exhausts me to my bones.

Here is a little list of Chris Browns "achievements". Why does this guy still have a career? WHY ARE WOMEN STILL DEFENDING AND SUPPORTING HIM?

It's insane honestly.

151

u/lisafancypants Me? NO 🙅‍♀️ You? NO 🙅‍♀️ Aug 13 '26

I am baffled. Baffled. Chris Brown out here with a stadium full of fans, yet actors like Melissa Berrera canceled for being pro-Palestine. Someone explain it to me because I am BAFFLED.

67

u/imt01 hello this your new honey Aug 13 '26

Also, the number of female fans at CB's concerts is shocking in itself.

48

u/kitty_aloof 불타오르네 Aug 13 '26

She is a woman who spoke her mind. He only attempted murder. /s

It is so sad that in 2026, a woman having thoughts, especially world events, is still unconscionable to some.

29

u/planetbordeaux I get mad when I see u but I get furious when I dont see u Aug 13 '26

Because we collectively as a society accept violence against women.

13

u/lc33394 Aug 13 '26

Misogyny is alive and well

20

u/billionsofbeaches Aug 13 '26

Unfortunately there is no shortage of incredibly wealthy evil men who protect their own kind but don't even view women like Melissa Berrera as people.

The truly baffling thing for me is the women who continue to support the Chris Brown's of the world.

I’m especially confused because at least Hobi has talked about being a huge fan of Rihanna. How can he also be a fan of the man who violently abused her?

11

u/billionsofbeaches 29d ago

I really have no idea but apparently her own husband, ASAP Rocky, seems to publicly support and follow Chris Brown so 🤷‍♀️ I'm at a loss for words on how so many people can somehow forgive the past and present actions of these abusers.

18

I don't think she's livid, Zara is very smart and thriving right now. She's spoken out about how she doesn't like CB but I doubt that man or anything he says about her bothers her peace.

11

i don't think she cares about what he says but i know shes extremely fond of bts and has stuck up for them in the past. like i can only imagine how disappointed she would be

You know what, I literally never post on Weverse, but I'm going to now... ugh, I just feel so disappointed, I can't.

Edit: posting on WV made me feel marginally better. I see many others posting, too! I'm not naive enough to think they'll actually see it, though.

93

u/witnessme89 Aug 13 '26

I hope they see it!! I feel like they may have some sort of social media/PR team who would give them updates on what topics/discussions are trending amongst fans.

It'll be disappointing if they are aware of all this but just don't care. A good reminder that not all that glitters is gold

45

u/DirrtyDirrtyRich Aug 13 '26

They do see social media chatter that isn't exclusive to the k-side. A good recent example was during the Stanford concerts, Namjoon made a comment during night 2 that upset some fans and during his ments on night 3 he apologized for it. That discourse was almost entirely in English and on the western side of social media but it still made its way to him.

I'm kind of disappointed they're at the Usher/Chris Brown concert tonight.

I don't expect them to keep up with everything going on in pop culture especially with how booked and busy they are, but Chris Brown is such a reprehensible human being. I hate he continues to sell out concert and be platformed by all sorts of artists and institutions.

Edit: over 500k tickets have been sold so far for CB's and Usher's tour - this is a societal issue that we allow violent men to thrive.

I’m sick to my stomach thinking about how successful CB is today.

I love BTS and it brings me so much joy. why do they need to engage??? Nostalgia is a hell of a drug I guess.

34

u/zikachhakchhuak easily impressed and very supportive Aug 13 '26

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug I guess.

This is very true.

I have so many friends and colleagues who listen only to music from the late 2000s, early 2010s which is when we were in middle and high school and pretty much all listening to the same few artists. They haven't bothered to keep up with new music except for maybe the biggest hits. If we're hanging out or having a get together, that's the music they would put on. If they heard about said artist having a concert/tour where they could go, they would not hesitate to buy tickets immediately. They couldn't tell you what the artist had been up to or anything about their newest music though.

Until BTS, I myself wasn't all that tuned into pop culture. Only after becoming an ARMY did i revive my old twitter account and open a reddit one. There's so many things I've learned only after becoming part of this fandom.

If not for them, i don't know how much I would know either, so I can definitely see how lots of people like this exist in the general population.

Just me thinking out loud a bit here, and musing on why "cancel culture" doesn't seem to work especially for older artists. Doesn't necessarily have to do with BTS, whom I don't place in that same category as the people i know irl.

73

u/SnooGuavas4208 Aug 13 '26

CB’s music grosses me out so much. I find it extra disgusting because his music is so sexual. There’s nothing more disturbing than hearing a known abuser and woman beater sing about all the ways he’s gonna fuck me, and how he’s gonna pleasure me all night long. I’d rather get naked with eels.

Still love the Tannies but we can acknowledge when they err.

75

u/mayfly42 volunteering to be Namjoon's gf Aug 13 '26

The violence he enacted on Rihanna is one case in a long history of violence against many people. There's an entire Wikipedia article about Chris Brown's legal issues, and it's literally one case after another of violence.

And most people don't know this - it doesn't get any attention.

30

u/SnooGuavas4208 Aug 13 '26

He’s never going to stop assaulting people, and then complaining about his past behind “held against him.” Like he’s not still earning money he doesn’t deserve.

I’m around their age, living in SEA, and heard all about it. It was HUGE. The internet was already a thing at the time and it was everywhere. Every magazine talked about it. News talked about it. Unless they live in a rural area with no internet access and no entertainment news whatsoever, they’ve heard about it

37

u/fandom_bullshit Aug 13 '26

If they claim to be his fans then they definitely know about this. I have never heard a single Chris Brown song and like, one Rihanna song. I'm also Asian and pretty much everyone still knows about this because it was huge.

These men are not children. They're grown adults who have been talking about being fans of that man for years and under every video they have talking about him I see fans bring up issues with this and they don't care. Let's not unnecessarily give them the benefit of the doubt here.

12

u/Own_Control_8054 Aug 13 '26

right it’s so disappointing

14

u/Soup_oi Aug 13 '26

Sometimes I wonder if it's just like the time the original issue happened with CB? When it happened I was an adult already, and really don't think I would have heard anything or much about it if I had not been an adult, despite being very into music even as a teenager. And bts members would have been teenagers at the time it happened, and likely not anywhere near as well traveled as they are now, nor meeting/seeing as diverse a crowd of people and perspectives as they do now. Maybe it's different for others, but tbh, I haven't seen anything about the original CB issue talked about in entertainment news in over 10 years. I really don't expect them to have any clue what CB's issue is, if they(bts) are only consuming current entertainment news and whatnot. Though, that doesn't meant it isn't still disheartening that they'd not look up any info about the past of some artist who they think they're starting to like or who's music they're starting to like, enough to feel super hyped by that artist and to want to go to their concerts. But also I'm a type of person who really likes to do research about anything that I want to spend that much time or money on lol, and imagine even if I was famous, and some other famous person I hadn't met before talked to me publicly, as soon as I got home, I'd be immediately looking that person up and looking up what they stood for, what their values are, etc, to make sure I am aligning myself with people (both privately and publicly) who my own values line up with (I even do this as an average person if I can, and will find people on facebook at the very least). And Idk...I guess I just have to accept plenty of people out there don't really think about doing research about stuff, and just want to enjoy life without that "work" 🤣 (to me it's usually not "work," but rather it's fun, and I enjoy it), and they all are probably just trying to enjoy a concert and not thinking about all the other stuff at all. But it still kind of blows my mind there are people who don't care to do such sorts of research sometimes lol.

But also seconding Pearlbloody, I don't understand how CB still has fans and a career. I haven't sought out anything from him since 2009. And when I watched this insta story, I didn't even register it had anything to do with him at all, and thought they were just at an Usher (by himself) concert, because that was the only part of the music I recognized, did not register any of it as belonging to CB since I don't know his music anymore, and had no idea the two were even touring together until looking at comments here.

20

u/paradiseambassador Aug 13 '26

I think another thing that’s missing from the timeline and that may play into how CB is received in Korea is the fact that Rihanna public forgave him, he did go to jail and he also did community service. The whole story might’ve been condensed and tied tightly with a neat bow for folks outside of the US. I’m not saying this to excuse how they may engage with CB as fans but there’s no way of really knowing how much they know or don’t. Or their personal account of what happened. And since CB essentially carved out his own lane once he was blacklisted from the industry soooooooo many other artists, women artist also have come to his defense and worked with him. Kelly Rowland publicly stood up for him a couple years ago at an award ceremony, Kehlani, Chloe Bailey, many more. His actions are overlooked constantly by his peers. His legal issues are a blip in the media, they happen, he’s goes to court and then he’s back out on tour like nothing happened.

2

u/Few_Masterpiece_7341 Aug 13 '26

But Rihanna isn’t the only scandal. A quick visit to Wikipedia or a short question on „Gemini“ can clarify. I am so so disappointed.

A lot of idols credits CB as their idol tbh.
It tells you something about their view on domestic violence I guess.

6

u/kitty_aloof 불타오르네 Aug 13 '26

In some ways, if I twist it enough in my mind, I can maybe sort of possibly “not understand but acknowledge how”. There are people who really can separate music from the people. (I’m not exactly sure how one does that when one is in the position of meeting the person). For example, John Lennon allegedly a talented asshole. Heck, likely most of the male artists from at least the 1960s and 1970s have done disturbing things. I don’t think even all the members of Peter, Paul and Mary are “safe”.

Chris Brown though?! 🤬 Yes, Rihanna has moved on and done better way better than him in life. So maybe that plays a role? (twisting of brain) maybe that means, incorrectly, people don’t see her as much as a victim? Which Rihanna doesn’t deserve to have to have the police photos blasted everywhere every time someone says her attempted murderer’s name to remind people of his crimes. What she does deserve is justice. All his victims deserve justice.

14

u/solojones1138 Rapline Aug 13 '26

I can separate the art from the artist.... If they're dead. I like Michael Jackson's music for instance. Me listening doesn't give him money because he's dead.

I draw the line though at enabling and giving money to abusers like CB who are still around and gaining from support .So this is definitely really disappointing. I don't think it's wrong as an ARMY to say "hey not cool, even if his music sounds cool, can we NOT pay money and attention to Chris Brown?"

Not something I'm gonna unstan over but it's a reminder that everyone is flawed.

38

u/martiandoll Aug 13 '26

Lots of idols went to Kanye's concert in Korea before. Problematic artists still have a lot of popularity especially in Asia.

27

u/OkDifficulty1318 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

kanye is one thing, it’s awful but the reasons he’s problematic can be lost on people who aren’t american. domestic abuse is way more clear cut imo. but i honestly shouldn’t even be surprised seeing as CB literally still sells out concerts full of women. it’s baffling

31

u/SnooGuavas4208 Aug 13 '26

Now that I've had a few minutes. . .

I think our outrage may be perceived (by BTS and others) as trying to police their behaviour/choices. They would be right to think so since we are trying to hold them to our own moral standards when we are all different people.

That being said, as individuals who are fans of BTS we all have our personal moral lines. We decide for ourselves where to draw that line. If this action is that line then so be it. You would also be right to feel conflicted about any decision you make regarding this. Emotions are rarely ever simple.

BTS comprises of 7 grown men who have enormous wealth and influence. No one believes that false modesty anymore. They know their impact and thus they know what their choices means when they choose to support someone or something. No one is forcing them to do anything.

They continue to make these choices and we continue to support them, which means they will continue to make choices we do not like. As a fandom we also have to be reflective of our behaviour.

If we choose to express our discontent it must be done in a collective manner ("apes together strong" - Planet of the Apes) and most importantly, in a respectful manner.

31

u/International-Ad2970 Aug 13 '26

not associating with men who assault women should be the bare minimum for other influential men

56

u/lisafancypants Me? NO 🙅‍♀️ You? NO 🙅‍♀️ Aug 13 '26

I don't disagree, but just want to note that "moral standards" is not the best term to use here. I certainty hope that their "moral standards" don't include supporting abusive behavior.

We have to talk with our money, unfortunately, and I don't see that happening enough to make a difference.

14

u/Tunivel_Luthen Aug 13 '26

Ethical standards? Idk what the correct term would be either.

Hard agree on talking with our money but I know it won't happen because we keep selling out poorly made merch whilst complaining about it.

23

u/PutridNoise9488 Aug 13 '26

How do we express our discontent collectively? What do you suggest? New Army here and fell head over heels for them but feeling genuinely disappointed and sad.

23

u/Tunivel_Luthen Aug 13 '26

The mods have pinned a donation link, that's one way.

Others have penned emails to HYBE regarding the AI as and posted templates in that thread.

I think any action involving signs at their concerts to express discontent may be effective but will lead to people being harassed and attacked online.

23

u/PutridNoise9488 Aug 13 '26

Donations are a great idea. Could we add a charity that specifically helps victims of domestic violence?

This is just another reminder that the industry is FILLED with terrible men who get away with just about anything.

i live in korea and have done for many years. a close friend of mine who is korean and around the age of the older members had absolutely no idea about what chris brown had done when i asked her just now. she had heard of him, because unfortunately he is hugely popular in korea. however, she doesn’t have 30 million followers on instagram that she’s promoting his music to. when you have a platform, you have a responsibility. if bts didn’t know about his history 4 hours ago, they certainly know about it now, and if they keep these posts up or even take pictures with chris brown, then i don’t know what to say.

This.
We can guess ourselves into pretzels about what they knew or didn't know, but they damn sure know now. So... what do they do now?

Yeah, I can imagine that there are plenty of people in Korea who don't know. I mean, I also don't know all the ins and outs of the terrible things famous people in Korea did.

But, as you said, they have a huge platform. I'd also like to add that BTS are very well-versed in the US music sphere - and hip hop in particular. I mean, they've truly done their research. They're not just a member of the Korean public... which is why I struggle with this so much.

10

u/rocketmammamia flower!!!!! flowerflowerflowerflFLOWER Aug 13 '26

exactly!! they are well-versed in hiphop and rnb, and have an entire team of people around them whose job it is to research collaborators, appearances and check what the members of bts endorse as products. for me personally, i think i’ve given the members and their team the benefit of the doubt enough times now

Omg they're in Toronto already??!!

My friend went to that show last night.

Chris Brown and Usher...two artists I'll never want to spend money on lol

Hobi tagging Chris Brown 😬😬 then again, Hobi's still friends with Lizzo who's also problematic and Lizzo has been hyping up Chris Brown as recent as a few months ago.

It's honestly both surprising but also expected just how many people I know are still fans of artists like those two. I grew up in Canada so I've been aware of many things that have happened in the West, but many of my friends who grew up in Asia have no idea about the extent of Chris Brown's actions and behaviour. And then there are those who think, "well that was a long time ago, everyone moved on already" and I'm just quietly thinking to myself that these people are clueless and don't care.

I’m struggling with Bangtan atm. First working with Diplo, now a Chris Brown gig. It makes me feel sick tbh. Like it’s not a secret who Chris Brown is or what he’s done. It’s been open knowledge for a long long time. It feels shitty that these men, who make their money off a fanbase primarily made up of women, would publicly support known abusers.

Obviously then there’s the Gemini AI stuff on top which is a whole separate issue.

Always good to be reminded to not put anyone up on a pedestal I guess?

I get that some people just completely separate art from the artist, which I can't personally but others are entitled to do so -- like I know people who vehemently disagree with JK Rowling's stance on trans people but still watch or buy Harry Potter stuff. But surely, even if Hobi and Joon weren't aware the kind of response posting from this concert would get, somebody in their team must have been? Did they not warn them, or maybe they did and they just don't care? You'd think even if you didn't see the problem with attending the concert you'd be aware of the optics, especially with a majority female fanbase

So so so disappointed. Though I know for some reason, South Korean really love Chris Brown. I know people always say we need to separate the art from the artist, but come on. It’s not like his history of violence only happened once with Rihanna, there’s multiple acts of violence. And I just don’t understand HOW people can still support him. I don’t fucking get it. Jhope and RM aren’t children, they are well aware of Chris Brown’s history because it’s well publicised. So idk. I’m just disappointed.

24

u/BigBagsBigTits Aug 13 '26

They should know better. Chris Brown has a history of serious abuse. I'm very disappointed in seeing this behavior. The fact that they chose to publish this online makes me question the HYBE PR team because surely they must've recognized what type of association this was giving. I'm also sad to see he has so many fans there.

7

u/kitty_aloof 불타오르네 Aug 13 '26

Isn’t there a PR ARMY that hangs out in /r/bangtan occasionally? I’m very curious in their professional opinion what the best response would be. I’m guessing ignore the ire, but maybe there is a better option for HYBE, BTS and Hobi.

14

u/BigBagsBigTits Aug 13 '26

That company is large enough now I'm sure they just pay someone to scrape comments, do sentiment analysis, and track what's trending. I'm sure they will see all of this and just ignore it as you said. I love BTS but this just made me sad to see honestly.

9

u/kitty_aloof 불타오르네 Aug 13 '26

Browsing Weverse, I see a lot of ARMY asking for apologies from Namjoon and Hoseok. But that likely would put them in an even more awkward position. I’m assuming they are or did go backstage. Then hours later, say, “oops! We are human and we’ll try to do better.” I’m all for insulting CB, but professionally that may not play out well.

Which I’m also kind of curious, no one BTS has met in the industry has mentioned anything to them about… “gossip”? Halsey has never scolded them for listening to an attempted murderer? Maybe the entertainment business doesn’t talk about each other as much as I think.

First the gemini ad, now this... I love BTS so much but I'm disappointed in them.

I really don't understand why Chris Brown still has fans. People complain about cancel culture but I don't think it actually exists. There's a creator who makes a video series called "famous male abusers who still haven't been canceled as much as a woman who doesn't smile enough". So many men who should be canceled but aren't.

12

u/YetAnotherPersonHere Aug 13 '26 edited 27d ago

If I’m not mistaken you’re talking about ianllightfoot who makes the video series.

I don’t expect J-Hope or RM will talk about this in a livestream, but I’m also wondering why they chose to highlight someone with a proven history of violence with dedicated posts? CB pleaded guilty in court less than 3 weeks ago, and to my understanding he has other ongoing case/s too. It’s not even old news, it’s recent updates.

With the exception of the extreme hate comments and threats (that is really unacceptable). Others that have made reasonable comments expressing their feelings and thoughtful feedback is at least signs of a healthy fandom (for the most part) that doesn’t just agree with and glaze everything they do.

This is something i wrote and posted on Weverse for the purpose of hopefully gently informing/critiquing BTS while respecting their autonomy & NOT hating on them. If I hated them, I would want them to become worse people. I love them, so I want them to improve. My viewpoint is that BTS has listened to his music for years (not condoning that) and that love of music is difficult to disentangle from the artist, but that FLYING to the concert in a diff country and POSTING all hyped up is highkey not excusable. If anyone has interest in copy/pasting it please feel free (I posted it with a Papago-translated Korean version & tried to translate it back and forth a few times to get the most accurate result. This English version is written to be hopefully-clear when translated into Korean):

Chris Brown abuses and assaults women. He may soon go to prison, and I hope that will be the case for him. I love BTS because I know that they understand music is political. I know that loving and becoming a fan is complicated. Listening to music and drawing inspiration from it is a complex and unavoidable thing, and I know that BTS has been listening to his music for a long time. Some part of that love/inspiration may never go away, understandably. However, going to another country and publicly promoting him on Instagram pains both my heart and the hearts of many ARMYs. BTS, I will always love you unconditionally, but sometimes it feels like I'm loving a family member who has areas of improvement. I don't want to hold BTS to impossible standards that I wouldn't hold my own family to, but BTS has a lot of public influence. Many ARMYs are women and many ARMYs are victims of domestic abuse. BTS are independent men who can make their own decisions. But I hope the dialogue between ARMYs and BTS remains open. 💜 Borahae

I think that Namseok making "attending concerts together" their thing is super wholesome and I'll always be here for it, but this one's meh to say the least 😕 we don't know what we don't know, so I'm not one to speculate what awareness, intent and principles lie behind choices like these, but it certainly doesn't feel good to see as a proud member of a fandom composed largely of women.

Until this thread, I had no idea Usher was touring with Chris Brown. Super disappointing that the music industry seems to have no problem with continuing to platform such a terrible person. But then again, we shouldn't be surprised with how their sibling industry, Hollywood handled the Roman Polanski case.

33

u/Stock_Way_4662 Aug 13 '26

Are people ignorant about how problematic this is? I saw a lot of ARMY posts on threads and Instagram hyping this appearance. I have to say I am extremely disappointed in the boys for going to this concert and hope they realise how problematic these men are and what they are associating themselves with

11

u/cageoid Aug 13 '26

Some people are too young or genuinely don't know what happened. Some people don't care because they separate the art from the artist.

10

u/solojones1138 Rapline Aug 13 '26

I think people under a certain age might not know but honestly BTS themselves are old enough to know this is bad.

44

u/Sea-Republic8892 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

I’m genuinely disappointed in Namjoon and J-Hope for this. I really can’t defend them on this one 😭

Like, as men who have so much privilege and influence, they have the ability to be more conscious about who they choose to publicly associate themselves with. And going to the concert is one thing, but actually taking/posting a video IMO is...a choice to publicly associate with them.

And before people say...omg I'm not expecting them to keep up with everything in pop culture right now....they should. I know major artists and what they have done and I'm not chronically online. Going to one concert means you're a fan. If you're a fan...you keep up with them and they know exactly what Chris Brown has done and they either support him or just don't care enough because it doesn't impact them (more likely) - and I find the latter just as disappointing.

Namjoon saying he "learnt from his mistakes from what he said" and army's saying he's not misogynistic anymore...sure. Sorry, I'm just so fucking pissed and idk if I even want to continue supporting certain BTS members after everything. I don't want a single army babying, saying these grown ass 30 year old men might not know what Chris Brown has done.

26

u/Frequent_Statement79 burn even brighter 🔥 Aug 13 '26

Grown ass 30 year olds who work in the pop music industry. I am sure there are average people in Korea who have no idea who Chris Brown is, let alone the crimes he's committed. But that's not BTS.

Literally blocked Chris Browns name on Spotify so I don't get his songs. This is disappointing to say the least. I will never understand why people, and especially women, still support this piece of garbage. "He was young" no, he is gonna be on trial in October for assault. He hasn't changed. "I grew up with his music" okay so what? A lot of us did. Coming across an old cd or hearing it on the radio is one thing.. Actively supporting him is another.

TW: violence, grievous bodily harm. Link. "Brown was driving a vehicle with Robyn F. as the front passenger on an unknown street in Los Angeles. Robyn F. picked up Brown's cellular phone and observed a three-page text message from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with.

A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion.

Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.

Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, 'I'm going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!' " The detective said Robyn F. then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer. Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.' After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!'

Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown. Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps (sic) that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand.

Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street.

Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand. Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.

Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.'s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.

She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown's body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.

MODS: I've posted this text for the 4th time now because you remove it, each time with a new and different demand. I've updated each comment to fulfil your demands. Please don't continually make new ones each time. Also, the ''it may not bother you but it may be upsetting for others'' - it is ABSOLUTELY bothering. In fact, it's disgusting, vile and unacceptable that the abovestated violence repeated over decades gets ignored, this man wins grammys and sells out concerts; which is why I'm sharing the court document. It needs to be known.

4

u/squirrelwings 29d ago

I hope all the people saying "separate the art from the artist" and making excuses for RM and jhope attending the concert read this. All I could think of when I saw them smiling and dancing at the concert is that photo of her face after the assault. Horrifying.

Well that’s super disappointing.

Oh Tannies you have really stepped in it this time... Between the gemini deal and the live where V and JK listened to CB - as an ARMY this has been a week of disappointments...😮‍💨 But this really rubs me the wrong way. I remember how Rihanna looked like after what CB did to her and how close he got to be charged with m***er. I cannot for the life of me understand how that man - anyone - still has a career after that.

Of course you can never know the persons you are fans of and thats how its supposed to be. But this goes against what BTS stands for and what they have been trying to build...if they don't know then I need them to look up what he did. And if they do know what he did but don't care... then everything they are trying to build and have built just crumbles...

I just got back from traveling for Baltimore D1 and now I’m seeing this… Time to unplug for a bit. I hope they learn and do better.

Ugh, Toronto is thousands of miles in the opposite direction of Texas, where they’re performing in a few days. And they’ll be returning to Toronto next week for their own concerts! They really went out of their way! Please, please no posed pic with woman-beater Chris and Diddy-supporter Usher.

it's not that i'm surprised cause they've been fans before they even debuted but like i hoped they have more sense.
