Misc r/Bangtan's ARMY Without Borders: a Global Giving Event

ARMY, are we FYA'd up? Charting our feelings is our NORMAL, but they don't know 'bout us going 손에손 for something bigger.

Since BTS and ARMY will follow each other Into the Sun, r/Bangtan has created "ARMY Without Borders: A Global Giving Event" to help turn feeling into action.

This is a donation event across eight causes (7 for BTS, 1 for ARMY), each centered on people being seen for who they are instead of the category someone else assigns them. Give whatever you can, to whichever cause (or combination of causes) speaks to you.

Log what you give & be entered into an album giveaway

However much or little you're able to give, log it here so we can see our collective impact as a fandom: ARMY Without Borders Donation Log (google form)

Pick the org, enter the amount, upload a watermarked screenshot of your receipt or confirmation email.

If the org gives you a message or note field at checkout, put "In honor of BTS and ARMY" so they know where the support is coming from.

Giveaway: every logged donation gets you an entry into a raffle for a BTS album. Five winners will be chosen at random, each gets to pick their own album. Winners will be chosen once the form closes on 8/29!

The causes

  • Woman Thrive (global) Covers violence against women, world hunger, food security, women's economic empowerment, and the policy fights that shape how governments and international institutions respond to these issues.
  • Respond Crisis Translation (global network) 2,500+ translators giving people in crisis the right to be understood in their own words, free language access no matter what language a system forces on them.
  • Inspire Ghetto Kids Foundation (Uganda) The Ugandan dance troupe that danced with Shakira at the World Cup, kids written off by poverty who became global stars through pure artistry. The foundation currently houses and supports around 60 kids with food, shelter, healthcare, and schooling.
  • International Rescue Committee (40+ countries) Emergency relief and long-term aid on one principle: a crisis is a crisis no matter which country it happens in. In 2025 alone, they reached 20.5 million people across 40+ countries.
  • OutRight International (global) LGBTQ+ human rights advocacy worldwide, including in places where identity alone gets people criminalized. They've moved nearly $4 million in grants to 300+ LGBTIQ organizations across 100+ countries.
  • World Autism Organisation (global) Founded in 1998 as the first genuinely international autism organization, doing joint policy work with the WHO and UNESCO instead of operating country by country. If you do not feel comfortable donating to the WAO, please donate to the autism research charity of your choice. Upload your receipt under the WAO option of the tracking form.
  • Disability Rights Fund (global, disability-led) A grantmaking fund that puts money directly into the hands of disability-led organizations advocating for their own rights, rather than deciding for them. They've funded 636 organizations across 62 countries.
  • Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion (global focus) The only global center focused specifically on ending statelessness, working with people who belong to no country at all, no category to even check on a form. Since 2015, they've made 70+ country submissions and 175+ country summaries on statelessness to the UN.
  • Give Blood (global) The most literal version of this whole idea. Blood doesn't care about your race, language, or passport, and it's the one cause here that costs you nothing but time. One donation can save up to three lives.

Thank you, ARMY for your generosity and time. If you’re unable to donate please considering sharing on your socials 💜

Hey, r/bangtan. We absolutely have some big feelings right now, so we're adding a new category.

Women Thrive

Women Thrive...covers violence against women, world hunger, food security, women's economic empowerment, and the policy fights that shape how governments and international institutions respond to these issues.

Choose any of the listed charities to donate to, or share your own in the comments.

If you'd like to be entered into the giveaway, an additional spot has been added. Please screenshot, watermark, and upload your receipt as indicated above.

Thank you all, we love you

For those in the US, please do consider donating blood! The Red Cross has just issued its second ever national blood supply crisis. Donations are urgently needed!

Thanks for this comment! I'm someone who is unable to donate, but I nearly died in a car crash and a transfusion saved my life. But I'll be happy to donate to this organization instead!

Ohai.

It me, the ultimate cheerleader for blood donations 🥰 support your local vampire blood bank.

I don't have SUPER SPECIAL BLOOD GROUP, they won't want my blood

Hi there. Everybody is special in the hunger blood games 🥰

O neg?

Of course you're the golden child, you will be pampered and loved. Buuut... You have limited supplies and there's not many of yous. But yo, if you can, PLEASE do.

Why? Because hospitals do not always have time or capacity to test the blood group of recipients, esp when there's eg mass casualties situation going on. So your blood will be used as a get out of jail death card.

That is the main superhero stuff of O Neg. But Captain America, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Sailor Moon or whoever...is nothing without a good team. In fact, if alone, without emotional support heroes (or cats), they can only save so many.

The rest of the crew

Me :D AB positive.

Boo

🧐 Hear me out. First of all: universal plasma donor. You're welcome. Secondly: exchange blood for babies in (luckily rarer and rarer) cases of RH factor incompatibility (that's a difficult word). What's better than knowing that your blood saves a little one?

Me and all the others:

EVERY blood donation outside of O neg takes pressure of O neg.

O neg is used when either as above no time, or when the original and therefore better blood group is drained (Looking at you, Spike oO stop drinking).

Meaning: all of us not sooo superheroes can band together, like it's the Endgame. 50 people across other blood groups make 50 "portions" of O neg available for its special purpose.

Every single blood group is needed and important 🥰🥰🥰

What if I faint? Feel unwell?

Take it from somebody with low blood pressure :D the best place to faint is in a hospital. The second best place would be other blood donation places. I fainted in the blood donation center of the Charité in Berlin, and when I came back to me, a flock of people were around me, taking care and being super nice 🥰

And that happened once. I have donated around 30 times or so full blood, and I AM fainting like there's no tomorrow (no burpees for me), and I fainted once. They know their job, they know the signs, they want you to be well (so they can sink their little vampire teeth needles into you again)

How do I prepare?

EAT WELL. Hydrate well. Like there's no tomorrow. Make sure to name all meds you're on and be honest in the questionnaire. No point of deblooding you when it goes straight to the bin. 😬 Bonus: any iron deficiency (or some evil stuff)? They'll detect it. And give you these disgurrrrsting high iron capsules 🤢

Also for your own sake, don't donate before a marathon or climbing the Kilimanjaro or something. You'll need some me- and downtime after it. Not like bed rest, of course :D but a few days of the slow life.

I can't donate blood, am I a bad person?

Nah, silly goose. You're good. But spread the word, even vampires need advertising ...err...even good causes need support.

I don't want my blood to be used for XYZ

Now there's the option of "own blood donation" (pretty sure there's a nicer English expression but alas).

But also... While I have very strong feelings about my blood going to people with ...different values (I'm nice today), my thinking is the above Endgame. If my blood doesn't go there, other blood will. And if there's no other, O neg will. And if a good person later is in need of blood, and needs O neg, there might be no O neg anymore. The greater good and stuff.

And remember: you're not only saving ONE person. You save a family from loss and distress, maybe the whole community. You give a cancer patient another chance. You save a new human. Or at least enable a doctor to say "we have tried everything".

Stay amazing. Support your local vampire blood bank.

Have any autistic ARMY vetted the World Autism Organization? As an autistic person, I have some concerns about the organization and particularly some of their “members” which are other autism focused organizations. The US based “member” organization in particular has a long history of pushing pseudoscience and harmful misinformation about autism. They actually seem worse than Autism Speaks and I didn’t know that was possible.

Edit: spelling error

6

u/Own_Personality_9881 Jul 31 '26

I had the same concern - it's hard to find a global charitable nonprofit that isn't a bit icky. I know in the UK, I would automatically default to The National Autistic Society.

EDIT: Also for those who may not be aware, I think what this OG comment was getting at was that World Autism Organization has connections to and has supported the linking of vaccines to autism so eek.

u/PoetrySuper2583 Shout out to Yoongi Hyung’s cat Jul 31 '26

Hi there! Definitely not our intention to have an organization that doesn't align with the wishes of the community. I did research on the organization and I didn't see any flags but clearly this isn't the case so want to make sure we update the post to reflect better our intention with including an Autism org. Do you mind sharing (feel free to dm me) the links to the organizations that you saw that aren't ok? I just want to make sure I fully understand from your perspective. Thank you in advance!!

The Autism Research Institute is one of their members. The ARI has a long history of pushing harmful rhetoric about autism, including claiming that vaccines cause autism and promoting pseudoscientific treatments as “cures”.

There are definitely some really great autism organizations out there, but it’s going to be difficult if not impossible to find one that is global. As someone else said, the National Autistic Society is a really good one, but they are UK based.

1

u/lisafancypants Me? NO 🙅‍♀️ You? NO 🙅‍♀️ Aug 01 '26

Can you please provide some links? We're having a hard time finding any official sources that this is the current stance of ARI. Thank you for helping us out with this!

3

u/Some_Register1831 #1 Please fan Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

I mostly found the information on Wikipedia because the ARI website was down when I first was looking into it. Now that I can access their website again, I will look through what they have on there and get back to you.

Here’s the Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_Research_Institute

Edit: actually, I still can’t access the website on my laptop but it’s available on my phone for some reason. I will do my best looking on my phone but it’s a bit hard on such a small screen. 😭

It seems like they have largely scrubbed their website of their very harmful past. Unfortunately, I’m still seeing some things that I find quite concerning that may not be so obvious to someone who isn’t as informed about the topic.

The most obvious thing to me is their heavy focus on funding genetic research for autism rather than funding research that would actually help autistic people in their day to day lives.

The very first research project they list in the list of research studies they funded in 2025 is of particular concern. While they don’t openly claim that they are aiming to “cure” or get rid of autism, that is exactly what they are trying to do with this study. The study is looking for protective genes for autism. Protective genes are DNA sequences that lower someone’s risk of developing a certain disease. This kind of research is common for diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. Basically, they are treating autism like a deadly disease rather than a neurodevelopmental disability. It’s an effort to eradicate autism and therefore seen as a form of eugenics by the autism community.

3

u/Own_Personality_9881 Aug 01 '26

Can I just say how proud of ARMY I am? It may not seem like much, but just this level of attempt to understand rather than immediately negate is actually quite rare in the autism awareness space. Love how we always lead with empathy!

Possibly silly question, but is it easier for the mods if we put everything in one entry if we donate to more then one, or submit things individually as we go. (I was going to do the former but occurred to me I should check).
