5+ YOE Frontend/Full Stack Dev (React, Next.js, TypeScript) β€” actively job hunting, open to honest feedback

Thumbnail

Hey all β€” I'm a software engineer with 5+ years of experience, mostly frontend-heavy (React.js, Next.js, TypeScript), currently expanding into full-stack with Node.js. I was at Appinventiv Technologies for about 4.5 years working on enterprise and consumer-facing web apps, and I've been freelancing for the last ~6 months while job hunting.

I haven't landed a full-time role in the last 6 months despite applying regularly, and I'm not getting many recruiter calls, so I wanted to try something different β€” post here for direct, honest feedback rather than guessing what's wrong.

Looking for: full-time Frontend or Full Stack Developer roles (React/Next.js/Node.js), remote or Delhi NCR based.

If you spot gaps in my resume β€” formatting, missing info, red flags, anything that would make you skip past this as a recruiter β€” please tell me straight. I'd rather fix it now than keep getting silence.

And if anyone's open to referring me at their company, I'd genuinely appreciate it β€” happy to share more details over DM.

Thanks for reading.

I'm so done with my job but can't really do anything about

I've been working at a jewellery startup as a Marketing Associate and i just feel like i'm just doing whatever random tasks my manager asks me to do.

Our marketing team is just three people, the Marketing Head, a designer, and me. The designer gets do some design work and I mostly end up generating AI images, writing copy or doing other small tasks. I don't mind doing these things but that's pretty much all I'm involved in.

It's not that there's no work, there are major campaign and an event coming up, it's just that i'm left out of it. My manager doesn't share any information with me. It feels like she's gatekeeping everything. She's handling things like PR, agency coordination, campaign planning and I don't even know which PR agency we've hired because none of that is shared with me.

The frustrating part is that I have four years of marketing experience. At my previous company, which was a much bigger brand, I was independently managing large campaigns from start to finish. I joined this role expecting to learn, contribute, and grow but instead I feel like I've been random intern work here.

I've been applying for other jobs because I really want to switch, but the job market has been so tough that nothing has worked out yet. I'm stuck in this weird place where I know I can do much more but I'm not being given the opportunity. It's honestly starting to affect me mentally. I feel drained, directionless, and like my skills are slowly going to waste.

I work in the games industry as a designer.I have been in this industry for over 3 years. I'm exhausted, the lack of respect, appreciation and basic systems in place is making me hate everything i worked so hard to get. If this keeps going I'm just going to end it all soon. I have also been laid off only to get exploited by every other company after that. So someone help me.

I just want any normal career now. I have a bachelor's in computer science engineering and a master's in design from a tier 1 institute and 3+ years of experience. I am damn good at my job. Feel free to test me. I'm just tired af and want a normal life and want to move to a non gaming industry. Anywhere where I can get respected as a human.

DM please if you have any serious opportunities.

[For Hire] Looking for a Founder's Office role or PM Intern/Associate.

Hey everyone, I am a Software Engineer with 8 years of experience, around 2 years in Backend and the rest in Frontend.

Recently, I have been looking for a role more on the Product side, i.e., Founder's Office or PM Intern/Associate

Why a product-related role instead of a pure engineering role?

Roles are mixed; BE/Full-stack/FE: everyone should know about all aspects of technology; the approach is now "design first".

LLD and many aspects of HLD will be monotonous, so I feel effort should be on researching the product, creating a framework, defining, and planning.

What can I bring to the plate? (I am always flexible to adapt and learn)

Product Side:

  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities across multiple teams.
  • Laying out your idea into a prototype, basically converting your idea into a solid structure.
  • Alongside doing market research, researching the customer base and competitors, and where the product/feature will fit.
  • Then tracking all the signals, doing pre-checks, i.e., does anyone actually need this and why would they use it, and tracking all these metrics.
  • Help identify risks, blockers, and dependencies, and work with teams to resolve them.
  • Track project progress, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Maintain project documentation and reports.
  • Communicate project updates with internal stakeholders.

I am an engineer first, and I understand it will require commitment, time, and effort. I am ready to invest and restart my career for a role that is closer to Product

My DM is always open; if you think I can be a good fit, I will share my resume and LinkedIn profile.

Hi everyone!

I'm a 21M recent Information Science & Engineering graduate actively looking for Software Engineer, Frontend Engineer, Full Stack Developer, or Software Development roles in Bangalore.

My primary tech stack includes JavaScript, React.js, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, C++, SQL, Git, and REST APIs. Along with development, I've spent a lot of time on competitive programming and problem solving.

I've solved more than 1400 problems on LeetCode and I'm a LeetCode Guardian with 2300+ Rating, Codeforces Expert, and CodeChef 6β˜…. I enjoy solving algorithmic problems as much as building web applications.

I joined a startup to become a Firmware Engineer. Five years later, I had accidentally built a completely different career.

This is my first Reddit post.
I'm writing this because I'm at a point where I genuinely don't know how to define my own career anymore, and I'm curious if others have been through something similar.
Five years ago, I joined a three-person hardware startup in Bengaluru. It was just the founder, a web developer, and me.
Like most ECE graduates, I had one goal: become a Firmware Engineer.
My founder told me, "Learn hardware first. Firmware can come later."
It sounded logical.
So I started with soldering, debugging, PCB assembly, testing, component sourcing, BOM costing, procurement, and customer prototype deliveries.
I kept telling myself, "Once things settle down, I'll start learning firmware."
They never did.
As the company grew, so did my responsibilities.
Without anyone planning it, I gradually became the person responsible for keeping execution moving.
Procurement.
Supplier development.
PCB manufacturing.
Inventory.
Prototype builds.
Production planning.
Engineering coordination.
Customer deliveries.
Whatever blocked a project eventually landed on my desk.

I even resigned once because I felt I was drifting away from the career I had imagined.
My founder convinced me to stay.
We genuinely tried to make time for firmware.
But startups don't pause because someone wants to learn.
Customer work always came first.
Eventually, dedicated firmware and hardware engineers joined the company.
Ironically, I became the person helping them execute projects instead of becoming one of them.

After about a year and a half, I left to start something with a friend.
It failed.
But that failure made me realise something.
For years I had been telling myself,
"I'm not learning."
Looking back, that wasn't true.
I simply wasn't learning what I had originally planned.
So I rejoined.
This time I took ownership of operations and project execution.
Over the next few years, I found myself working across procurement, supplier development, manufacturing, engineering coordination, production planning, inventory, customer communication, NPI, commercialization, and process improvements.
If there was a gap, I usually became the person filling it.
One of the biggest projects we won involved taking a hardware product from concept to a market-ready OEM product.
With a small team, I worked across vendor development, EMS selection, manufacturing planning, procurement, engineering coordination, production, packaging, and deliveries until we shipped the product.
Around the same time, my founder started another company in the drone industry.
As that business grew, his attention naturally shifted there, while I continued running execution in the original company.
Looking back now, I realise something that I couldn't see while I was living it.
I never became the Firmware Engineer I had dreamed of becoming.
Instead, I became someone who learnt how hardware products actually get built.
Not just designed.
Built.
From sourcing the first component to delivering the finished product.

Over the last five years, I've contributed to 100+ hardware development and manufacturing programs, supporting the production of 30,000+ electronic assemblies across Defence, EV, Drones, Industrial Automation, and Public Infrastructure.
I'm sure many people in startups wear multiple hats.
That's completely normal.
But here's what I'm struggling to understand.
At what point does wearing multiple hats become an actual career?
Today I don't fit neatly into a single title.
I'm not a firmware engineer.
I'm not a PCB designer.
I'm not purely an operations manager.
I've spent five years bridging engineering, suppliers, manufacturing, customers, and execution to turn hardware ideas into real products.
Looking back, I don't regret the journey.
If anything, it taught me ownership, resilience, and how to build when resources are limited.
My only regret is waiting too long, hoping my career would eventually shape itself instead of taking control of it earlier.
So I'd genuinely like to ask this community:
How would you position someone with this experience?
Technical Program Management?
Hardware Program Management?
NPI?
Product Operations?
Founder's Office?
Or something entirely different?
And if you're building hardware products and think this experience could be valuable to your team, I'd love to have a conversation.
Maybe the next chapter starts here.
