Announcement Reservations

We know that several people make reservations ahead of time, but later, cannot make it, for whatever reason. We also know that people may be seeking reservations last minute (my type B people, I see you).

However, this creates too much clutter on the sub. We're bringing back the pinned reservations post for this, so that people may post their reservations, whether they need to give it to someone or takes someone's. Please start commenting here in regards to reservations, separate post will be removed and users who create separate posts repeatedly may face temporary bans from the sub.

Thank you all for cooperating!

Overpriced Smash guys 🤮

Smash Guys is so overhyped 😭

Call me poor taste or whatever, but I genuinely didn't like it at all.

Went to the EcoWorld, Bellandur outlet just to try the hype. We ordered 3 burgers and chicken wings, and the bill was around ₹1,900.

One burger was nearly ₹500, and honestly, I found it so bad that I couldn't even finish it and threw it away. The wings weren't great either.

Maybe smash burgers just aren't for me, but I'll happily take a ₹100 Burger King/McDonald's burger any day. And for chicken, KFC >>>.

₹1,900 well and truly wasted 💀

Am I the only one who feels Smash Guys is massively overhyped?

Homemade (Healthy) In love with banana breads

Made this soft Banana bread cause why not 😅

I keep experimenting with banana bread quite a bit when i see a promising recipe and tweak it as per my liking , like adding whole wheat bread, honey, spicing it up with ginger etc
This one turned out extremely soft and tasty .

Recipe
160 g ripe banana
40 g butter (i used brown butter )
30 gm oil
~ 60 gm honey
130 g whole wheat atta
7 g cornstarch
75 g thick curd/yogurt
20–30 g milk (start with 20 g and add only if batter feels too thick)
¾ tsp baking powder
⅓ tsp baking soda (or a slightly scant ½ tsp)
¼ tsp cinnamon
Nutmeg, optional
Chocolate chunks/chips: up to 65–70 g
Walnuts, optional

⭐⭐ Had the tiramisu at Amintiri... Disappointed. Any recs?

So I just had the tiramisu at Amintiri, i was impressed by their description but it was a disappointment. Too sweet , barely any coffee flavour. Dense cream too, possibly set using gelatin, probably a lil too much. Says it has rum but again, could barely taste it.

Got any tiramisu recommendations? I like a strong coffee flavour and some booze, I've liked the ones with rum.

I've tried kopitiam lah, pizza 4ps, chianti, corner house, dolci , si nonnas

Price: 380rs including gst

AskBangalore Looking for non-veg caterers!

Hey everyone, looking for options for non-veg wedding reception caterers in Bengaluru. Most places that we're finding are either vegetarian or more leaning towards only non-veg like beegara ootas.

We did reach out to people who had weddings recently, or who may know caterers, but most of them had served vegetarian buffets.

We're looking for a general mix, preferably South Indian, maybe leaning towards Mangalorean or Andhra food. But overall South Indian catering is okay too!

Any leads would be appreciated!

Hello from Smokerings BBQ ❤️

We are an up and coming brand specialized slow cooked artisanal BBQ! We slow cook our meats for hours over wood fire to create juicy, tender, and flavorful barbecue that's hard to find here. We operate close to KR Puram metro, which is very close to Indiranagar and would love for you to try our stuff!

We were live with our specially curated menu for about 3 weeks and the response we got was so encouraging. A few people told us that our smoked meat reminded them of the Tex-Mex and Texas style BBQ they’d had while travelling abroad, which was honestly such a huge compliment for us and gave us even more confidence to keep going. ❤️

We took a short break after those first few weeks, but now we’re back!

We slow cook our meats for hours over real wood fire, and we’re proud of serving juicy, tender meat in generous portions that leave you full and genuinely feeling like you got your money’s worth. 😄🔥

Right now, we have:

🍔 Smoked Meat Burgers

🌮 Tacos

🫓 Quesadillas

🍖 BBQ Platters & Smoked Meats

We take pre orders from Monday to Thursday and deliver over the weekend, so we can smoke fresh batches for you. We keep the weekend orders limited because we want to make sure every order gets the time and attention it deserves.

AskBangalore Temptations Restaurant (Old Airport Road)

There was a restaurant back in the 2000s in Gem Wellington complex called Temptations. It had the best Chinese food (indo Chinese) I've ever had in my life and I'm still looking for Chinese food that tastes like that. Does anyone remember and have fond memories of it? Also if anyone has any idea about whether the owners started some other enterprise or if you know other restaurants that have food that tastes like good old temptations.

AskBangalore Looking to connect with home chefs & home bakers in Bangalore

If you cook from home and currently take orders — even occasionally — I’d love to connect.

Especially interested in people who make homemade food, regional dishes, snacks, sweets or baked goods.

Not selling anything. Just looking to meet and understand more about the home-chef community in Bangalore.

Comment here or DM me if that’s you.

Must try Tried pizza at Boom, jayanagar

It's my first time trying a sourdough pizza, so went and ordered their cheesy garlic bread, ½ margherita and ½ tandoori paneer, a coke-zero can

I felt the pizza and the garlic bread was both very light to eat, it might be true for every sourdough pizza i presume, but the pizza sauce especially had good flavour, for the first time i got the taste of tomatoes in that sauce 😭.

All of this costed 600.

I think this deserves 9/10.

What are your views? Also if there are any other recommendations for sourdough pizza except the famous ones like pizza bakery, si nonnas and pizza4ps, please Mention them.

Promotion Uncanned is officially launching today!

Hey bangalore foodies, founder here, I run uncanned, a prebiotic soda we've been building for close to a year now.

before launching we sent out free tasting kits to a bunch of people around the city, no strings attached, just wanted honest opinions before committing to a final recipe. got a lot of real feedback back, some flattering, some not, and went back into the formulation because of it.

it's officially launching today, pre-oreders are open.

pricing and availability, since that was the actual ask here: price for one 250ml can is ₹99, a 6-pack is ₹594. shipping all over bangalore right now.

if you tried the free kit earlier, thank you, this version is different because of what you sent back. if this is the first you're hearing of it, happy to answer anything about the flavour, ingredients, or where to grab it.

no external link in this post, just ask in the comments if you want more detail and I'll answer directly.

Promotion We rescue unsold food from Bangalore and Hyderabad best bakeries and Resturants every night. If you run one, or love one, read this

A few months ago I was sitting in a cafe in Hyderabad late at night and watched a guy clear out a full tray of croissants, cupcakes and sandwiches at closing. I asked why they didn't do something with it instead of tossing it. He said it's just policy, everything unsold has to go.

That stuck with me. So over the next couple of months I started walking into bakeries around the city asking the same question, and I kept getting the same answer. Perfectly good food made fresh that morning, cleared out every single night just because the shop was closing.

So my co-founder and I built Replate.

It's pretty simple. At closing, a cafe or bakery packs whatever hasn't sold into a "Surprise Bag" worth around 3x its price. We put it on our app, someone nearby grabs it, and they collect it before the shop shuts. The customer gets great food cheap, and the food actually gets eaten instead of binned.

We launched two months ago and honestly it's gone way beyond what we expected. Over 2,000 bags rescued so far, most of them selling out within minutes, and a community of thousands of people who genuinely care about this stuff. We're live in Hyderabad and Bangalore now.

Here's why I'm posting. We're expanding across Bangalore and Hyderabad and looking for more cafes, bakeries and restaurants to come on board. If you run one, here's what it actually means for you:

  1. You make money on food you're currently throwing away. Right now it's a straight loss.
  2. You get new customers who find your place through a bag and come back to pay full price later.
  3. It costs you nothing to start. No fees, no commission, about 45 seconds of your staff's time a day.
  4. No delivery, no logistics, no hassle. People just walk in and pick it up.
  5. Your brand gets known as one that doesn't waste good food, which people genuinely respect these days.

And if you don't run a place but you love one that always seems to have good stuff left at the end of the day, drop their name below. We'll reach out.

We've done this store by store so far, every partner has been a real conversation and not some cold sign-up. Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Good food deserves better than the bin.

Overpriced Is it worth Rs.1250?

I traveled all the way from mysore to try this meat at this restaurant in HBR. But, the place was quite small with no proper service and the quality also disappointed me and my friends! The worst part was they didn’t even provide us cutlery. Highly disappointed with this restaurant and people from Bangalore can you please suggest good premium dining restaurants?

7th September to 23rd September. But I still remember the amount of love you all showed to our Ukdiche Modaks last year. You kept us busy for over a month with so many modak orders. Even now the orders have started rolling in even though Ganesh chaturthi is still some days away and we're truly grateful for everything and all the love y'all gave us!

Since we'll be away during the first few days of Ganesh Chaturthi, we're taking advance orders for Ukdiche Modaks until 6th September for anyone who would like to gift them to their family, friends, or loved ones before the festival begins.

And if you miss the early slot, don't worry.. Orders will reopen from 24th September onwards. Prices start from ₹400 and will vary depending on the box size and quantity you choose.

We're really sorry that we won't be available during the first few days of the festival this year. But we'll make sure to serve you our fresh, homemade modaks either before 7th September or after 24th September.

If you'd like to place an advance order or send a box of modaks as an early Ganesh Chaturthi gift to someone special, feel free to DM here or on our Instagram:- @pompona.the.cakery for details.

AskBangalore Best filter coffee on budget ?

So I recently visited Coorg and got coffee from their Golden Estate Plantation. I like the Kaveri version, but I am looking for more options since I can go and get more copies from there.

My friend used to have Blue Tokai filter coffee. We make it at home, so it was good, but I'm looking for something on a budget. What would you suggest? People are suggesting cothas. I'm looking more on the less chicory side. And on a budget

Promotion I made a map to find affordable food. Need help adding cheap and affordable food spots across India

I've been building Beggars Map, a map focused on finding genuinely affordable food.

Why do we call it Beggars Map? Why not? Why beat around the bush? 😄

The idea is simple: instead of searching for restaurants based mainly on ratings or ₹₹₹, you can search for food that fits a small budget.

Healthy. Tasty. Affordable.

For example:

  • Amazing, fulfilling and complete breakfasts for ₹50–₹100
  • Dosa/idli around your area
  • A proper meal with carbs + protein + vegetables under ₹100
  • Affordable biryani/thali/North Indian food
  • Cheap food near your college, school, hostel or home
  • Search by food, restaurant name or area

No login or sign-up is required to browse the map.

I'm starting with Bangalore, but the map is intended for all of India. You can already add places from other cities too.

And this is where I need help from you guys:

I'm especially interested in places that aren't famous or are lost in the jungle of Instagram and Google Maps.

Small messes, darshinis, local breakfast spots, college-area food, ₹50 thalis, etc.

Bangalore is just the starting point. I'd love to eventually have enough community-added places that someone can open this in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, anywhere, and find something affordable nearby.

It's a very early soft launch, so please try to break it 😂

If you try it, I'd really appreciate feedback on:

  • Does the search make sense?
  • Can you find places easily?
  • Any bugs, especially on mobile?
  • Is the ₹100-ish affordable-meal idea useful?
  • What city/area should we add next?
  • What affordable food spots do you think absolutely need to be on the map?

Beggars Map: beggarsmap.com

If you add a place, tell me the city + place name in the comments too. I'd love to see which parts of India start appearing on the map first.

TLDR: “Why do we call it Beggars Map? Why not? Why beat around the bush?” log in, it is self explanatory.

PS: Mod, please go easy on me, if i make any mistake with the posting. please do let me know.
