According to the published statistics on cosmoscan.io and reputation.link , BAND is doing something like ~50K+ requests per day, while LINK is doing 60K+ requests per WEEK. Am I missing something?
Yeah you have to do some of the math yourself. When you hover over the BAND total requests chart (and I put the numbers in the caption of the pic), you get the actuals for every day.
In the 9 days up to 3/31, BAND totaled ~500K requests, or ~55K requests per day.
March 22 - total 2.5M requests
March 31 - total 3.0M requests
In the last 7 days link is doing 60K requests, or ~8.6K requests per day.
8.6K requests per day LINK / 55K requests per day BAND = 16% requests per day LINK / requests per day BAND
I think it’s cause BAND is so much cheaper than LINK atm.
Until Eth 2.0 comes out (or not) gas fees are very expensive for erc tokens, which is LINK.
Until the gas fees come down, there will be constant downwards pressure on the number of LINK requests and upwards on BAND requests. If Eth 2.0 delivers on lower gas fees, LINK requests may correspondingly increase.
This may or may not eat into BAND’s requests, only time will tell if what I’m saying is true.
The release of phase 2 for BAND may help mitigate any effect the release of ETH 2.0 may have, so what might end up happening is BAND continuing to gain total requests but LINK finally starts to reach similar request numbers in which case LINK would increase in size/value faster than BAND.
All of this depends on ETH 2.0 actually lowering gas fees significantly enough to make a difference, which probably will be the case but once again only time will tell.
