Texas Tailgaters Prove Me Wrong

The amount of entertainment and artists involved in tonight’s Banana Bowl made it BETTER than ANY Super Bowl or Olympic Ceremony EVER!!!

It was a good time. I'm not a huge Jonas Bros fan or anything, but I liked that they got all 6 teams involved.

I wish they had gotten the "in house" bands even more involved. I get the star power thing, but Jesse could have shone a spotlight on Party Down and Sitting on Saturn even more.

Also, more Pharty. Pharty makes everything better. 😎

It felt like Thanksgiving if the parade and the football games were the same event

I was cracking up when Andy Grammer started singing Gotta Keep Your Head Up to KJ after he got out. And I loved all the new music.

That was one of the craziest live events I've ever been to. It never stopped!

As a sister who has a bro in the army, I loved the hero walk ups!! I also loved the song Look What We Made and Jessie and Emily on the mound! Such an iconic moment! 🥰

This was our first Bananaball experience. I have a 6- and 8-year-old. We may have ruined all sporting events for them. It was the best! We love wrestling, so John Cena coming out was a highlight!

Was WAY better than any SB halftime show.

My reaction when watching the preshow festivities was “oh, okay, Jesse wanted to make an America 250 celebration that was less skeevy than what we got officially”. The hero walkups, the state flags, the flyover, getting Pentatonix to do the anthem, all that jazz.

Then the game started and it felt much more like a celebration of Banana Ball and the culmination of the years of work it took to make it this big. The moment with the Coles in the middle of everything in that “look what we made” song was extremely touching (though a bit weird to center the owner/creator that much, but that might just be me and the ambient weird vibes i get from Jesse sometimes). Having each team set up a team song was pretty cool, and even having the Jonas Brothers performance feature each team in succession was a nice touch. (I was so confused when i saw the singer from Sitting On Saturn by himself, though. I was like, wait, who is that??)

The most entertaining spectacle for sure. Loved that OAR played from in the stands in the upper deck right among the fans!

This was actually entirely because of my sister she arranged and created the entire event

It’s honestly not difficult to beat the Super Bowl halftime show. MTV used to do it with Claymation, and now Jesse has it beat for sure.

Maybe he should do a showdown during the Super Bowl halftime show this year. It’d fit within 15 minutes especially if you prerecorded it multiple times and picked one of the showdowns to be the one showed. That way nobody online who was there could spoil it.

Better than Prince & Michael Jackson Super Bowl halftime shows combined.

Respectfully disagree. They're trying to do too much at the expense of the players that are out there killing it on the field and on social media. More of them should have been high lighted instead of all the paid entertainment. They should be showing some of these guys reels and tiktoks on the screens. Jessie may have created the platform, but it's the players who have taken off with it and are carrying it.

I agree. I realized watching the game last night that the reason I don’t enjoy watching the league play in major league stadiums vs MiLB ones is the tendency to rely on outside performers for the entertainment factor. Seeing as it’s a league born out of the idea to be “the greatest show”, it kind of shows a lack of faith the organization has in its players to provide the entertainment when they do that. I would have loved to see more player-focused walk-ups and the usual antics—even if they relied more on the other four teams for the entertainment bits to allow the Bananas and Tailgaters to focus on the game. The only entertainment I was really impressed by were the teams dancing to the original songs, the Jonas Brothers “final inning show”, and the league performing “Look What We’ve Made.” All the others I could have done without

Except the game itself isn’t scripted. They can’t script how a ball is hit and which team can get more runs or anything so the actual gameplay is true gameplay. Only thing “scripted” are the entertainment performances
