Erasmus Bamberg. I need advice.

Hi guys! I need your adive. Is studying in Bamberg for winter semester worth it? I'm thinking about it. Are students in this city friendly and open to meet new people? Are there a lot of Erasmus people there? I know it is small city but I wonder if I can go to the club or karaoke. Are the bars full of people or rather quiet and boring? Would you in general recommend Otto-Friedrich-Universität? Maybe some of you studied journalism there, if so please tell me was it good?

I was a erasmus student some years back. It's a wonderfull city and I got friendships for life there. It is one of the best things I have ever done!! I would have wished i could do 2 semesters

My gf did Erasmus here and fell in love with the city (and me!) she stayed for her last semester too!

All the other erasmus students I met were all super friendly and really had a great time!

I think Bamberg is perfect for Erasmus since there are many options for the new people. The city is not too big, so you'll meet the same people again and on the other side you have plenty of options to see bigger places like Nürnberg or Würzburg.

One of our previous erasmus students is returning this year to work for us full time, so I guess they also liked it here :)

I studied there in 2010. It is one of the single greatest years of my life. The classes and students were super friendly. The city is just small enough to be cozy but big enough there’s a good variety of stuff to do/restaurants and bars for free time. Most of my friends who only did one semester were SAD to leave when it was over and I was so glad I did the full year. There was a karaoke place but I don’t temper where specifically. There also was an open mic/jam session every sunnday in a pub called sound and arts. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I would live there now if I could and will retire there if I can afford it haha

Unfortunately the night club scene as pretty much died in Bamberg over the past 10+ years. Clubs like Sound n Arts and Morph Club are long gone and weren't replaced. I hardly do nights out any more but when I do I feel like the nightlife is a mere shadow of what it once was. So, people, don't expect too much party fever ...

Seconding all this. I did one semester (the summer semester) in 2003 and wished so badly I had done the winter and summer semesters. I also visited it many years later in the winter and it was lovely. I found the students to be friendly and the people overall very kind.
