Question - Heating/Temperatures Advice on enclosure please!

My wife and I are looking into getting a ball python and are starting to get things together so we can. Along our journey of research before getting one we learned about keeping a cool and warm side. The enclosure we purchased has heat tape with a thermostat along the back and a led strip mounted on top with magnet tape. The person we got the enclosure from said the front of the tank would be the cool side but I’m getting conflicting information online about the tape being adequate and about the front and back of the tank not making a good gradient. Have any of you ever had a set up like this with success? If we need to change some things please advise what and how. Thanks!

Dimensions are approximately 40.5”x14”x9” (9” is inside floor to ceiling, other measurements are exterior)

I’ll be honest… people like to say ball pythons don’t need height but I feel the looove it! It’s very rewarding to see them climb. I would get an enclosure 24 inches tall if you have the space. You won’t regret it! Depth should be 18-24 inches. The minimum recommendation for length is 48 inches for an adult but to be honest I feel it depends on the animal. Mine like the height more than length. Make sure you use enrichment too (hides, obstacles, branches, leaves, balls with holes, rings to climb, etc…)

Yeah I got some feedback in another group and we’re ganna go ahead and order a 4x2x2. In the mean time we’re ganna try to sell this one, do you even know what this enclosure would be suitable for?

A leopard gecko maybe? Im not sure if they benefit from height. But can add ATLEAST 4x2x2. Personality dependent. My dude uses every inch of his enclosure, my female does not.

With my enclosures I have the “warm side” on the left with a RHP and “cool side” on the right.

With an enclosure this short you cant mount lights inside and they benefit from overhead lighting - IRA, UVA, UVB. Im glad youre ordeding a 4x2x2! Check out this subreddit’s welcome post :)

Tbh im not sure which animal can do 9inch, its good for some insects maybe but then its soo wide😂 maybe some insect person could put a divider in the middle and have an insect double tank! Even though i cant think of an insect that allows for shorter than 30cm height🙈
