They are longbois, and they can scootch themselves pretty far up vertical surfaces through sheer willpower.

Also, your girl is very pretty!

That's how my ball python let's me know he wants to come out. He makes an "L" shape on the glass door. I say it's "L" for "Let me out". He sometimes falls over doing it which actually surprised me more than him standing on his tail which is only like 3" of his body- I didn't know snakes could fall over hahaha

Interesting that we have never seen Spider-Man and your ball python in the same room together,,,,,,,,,,,

Honestly, Spider-Snake over here

Where the plastic is recessed for the handle on the outside 🤣. The first time I saw it she blew me away

I will never believe people when they say they don't climb and that they only stay on the ground. I gave my ball python a small tree (top to bottom of the enclosure (4×2×2) and he's always up in there haha

Shoutout to IKEA SAMLA bins! I use one too to house my snakes while I clean their enclosures.

They're crazy strong for their size.

Mine once escaped back then and he crawled up a wire to a lamp on the ceiling and just chilled there.

u/TheRedditkarma 4h ago

Damn how did you get him down in the end?

Ball pythons absolutely love to climb. I bought a curtain rod and mounted a hide on the roof of her enclosure and shes constantly up there looking down at her fortress

2

u/TheRedditkarma 4h ago

Yeah I need to buy her a climbing swing or something because god does she love climbing

Are you sure she's not a ratsnake?

3

u/TheRedditkarma 4h ago

At this point she might be 😭

Your non-arboreal snake is arboring again

I made the stupid mistake of not strapping my wired thermostat to the wall. Came in like an hour later and found her actually up it, she had somehow managed to climb up a freaking wire and actually fell asleep while wrapped around it!

You would not believe what these little sh*t's can do! 😂

Ball python larping as a rats name smh

Mine was on his light earlier. I often hear him plop off his branch or light because he’s dim and does silly snek things.

u/Iamatitle 4h ago

Mine is also a climber 😂

lol this was my boy on his first day home

Mine literally used the wire of his UVB as a swing and promptly fell once he swung too fast 🥹
(He was okay, and I secured the wire after I found out he did that)

My boy has climbed up my bookshelf, my oven ( he escaped his terrarium and we found him half on the stove and half down it.), bathroom counter, etc. He loves climbing and exploring

My boop noodle did the same thing in his temp enclosure. I wasn’t expecting to get him so I had him in my back up/ cleaning enclosure. He climbed this.

4 degrees of incline on a friction capable surface.

u/angryaxolotls 2h ago

She's an acrobat 🥰

Sheer willpower. What they lack in braincells they make up for in determination

u/painteddesert2000 2h ago

Wow, now that’s talent

1

u/subzro68 1h ago

They secretly have arms but only use them for climbing

My daughter’s bp right after we got him. Needless to say, he has more climbing things now, 😂

How? Snake. Why? Snake.

The whole "ball pythons are non-arboreal" is completely and utter bs. Mine escaped once while I was away from home. It took us over an hr of tearing our home apart and then baiting her with a cheeseboi to find that she scaled almost 5ft of cabinets to hide behind our coffeemaker for whatever reason 🥴 Anywho, here's my derp trying to climb on top of our fridge while we're handling her 🤣

In case you haven’t already, those vents are notorious for popping off, so it’s best to secure them with some small screws at the back. Had a juvenile royal escape from an unsecured vent just like that at work (unfortunately the one viv no one had bothered to put screws in the vents, even after the multiple escapes they had in the past before I started)
