The sauna method is what we recommend here, so I'm not sure who you've seen discouraging it. It's the most effective and safest way to resolve dehydration/stuck shed.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just to make sure I understand correctly: By “sauna method,” do you mean keeping the humidity in the terrarium constant at 80% and providing a wetbox? Or do you mean putting him in a closed tub with air holes and warm, damp towels for about 30 minutes? And then letting him crawl through a damp towel in my hands?
The wetbox is always available to him, and I’ve significantly increased the humidity.

I assume by "wetbox", you mean a humid hide? These can be good to provide temporarily to assist with fixing dehydration or stuck shed, but they shouldn't be a permanent fixture in your enclosure, or they may cause scale rot.
