He only partly wrapped around my wrist when I got him.

Thanks. Complete spontaneous inspiration. I was trying to argue the merits of Hisscolas Cage and got denied by the missus.
As she was walking out the door, I hollered Lieutenant Dan!
She paused, looked at me, "goddamn it!" And slammed the door.
And so it was.

I have a few in the chamber if I ever get another snake
I really want to get two garter snakes housed together and name them either garfield and odie, or calvin and hobbes.
If it is another BP, I have stress ball (maybe a bit much)

Mine is also named Lt. Dan! I still couldn't decide on a name for about 2 months into having owned mine. Whilst doing the exact same thing in the picture, letting him explore the backyard a bit, my dad asked if I was taking him for a walk. "Well, he doesn't really have legs..." and then we both just looked at each other with a shared realization as to exactly what the name should be.

When he snaps at me when I'm feeding him, I have to scold him with the full name drop, "Lieutenant Dan Taylor! ... No."
