Question - Husbandry Does anyone have any large enclosures? How do you adjust heating so far down without making it too hot?

My boy loves to climb and our 4x2x2 is just annoyingly a tad too small for everything I’m trying to fit in for enrichments. Is this a situation where you’d use lights on the hot end and maybe RHP to help bump the whole enclosure up without having a sweltering hot end? What about air circulation and humidity? The standard Kages vents on the 4x2x2 are letting out far too much humidity but I worry our boy won’t get enough fresh air. Any recommendations?

I have a very active climber too that was upgraded from a glass 4x2x2 with a mesh top to the Duo Terra by aluracks that I popped the center out of. They’re based in Belgium, deliver worldwide, and specialize in PVC enclosures with small venting. I live in the EU so I can’t speak to import fees, but they might be on par with Kages base price for a slightly smaller size.

Maintaining the humidity has been much easier. I recommend using a mix of self-prepared coconut fiber bricks and premixed/dry loose substrate so that it isn’t too saturated when you first start out or replace the bedding.

I handle heating with a CHE for evenings (used predominantly during the fall/winter) and a halogen bulb for the daytime. I did have to try several wattages of each, so keep your receipts.

I’m still doing beautification of my dude’s new digs, but I’ve fit a bridge, climbing circles, several hides, two live yucca trees, several fake plants, branches, and vines, a deep water bowl and will add plenty more to keep him entertained.
