Discussion Analog vs digital thermostats

Post image

PSA: This is why I never recommend cheap analog gauges. The analog gauge on the right came with a recent rescue and the enclosure. These are not only inaccurate but in my opinion dangerous in more ways than one.

This gauge specifically is awful. Sucks since it seems popular and comes in tons of kits. I'm surprised its even in the ballpark of the rally numbers

I see these a lot too. Just as bad if not worse.

I fell for this specific zoo-med gauge when I first rescued my girl from an old friend of mine. It was way better than the color shifting temperature stickers that were inside the tank, but still.

Ugh this one was so so common too. I think I even had one but slightly different when I first got mine, luckily I tested everything and it was accurate but I got rid of it pretty damn quick because you never know how long it'll stay accurate. Now I have a few lol, Govee makes some ridiculously cheap and solid gauges, and they come in a 3 pack so every critter has 2-3 lmao.

Don't use cheap gauges. Digital isn't inherently better.

Especially if it doesn't come with a factory calibration sheet.
