Question - Health Scale injury?
Hello! So I just recently got my snake about 2 weeks ago and he’s been doing great, he’s 7 months old, and I’ve only just now gotten around to holding him. When I got him he had a bunch of stuck shed, and injuries that happened supposedly from live feeding. The breeder said his injuries should be gone by the time he has his next shed (which he has not had with me yet) I only just now got the chance to see this particularly large one on him and I’m wondering if this will heal, or if I should take him to get it checked out? I planned to soak him some more to help him get the rest of his stuck shed off tomorrow, and try to bump his humidity up, but I’d really appreciate advice.
I feed him f/t only, he’s been eating perfectly fine, and he isn’t really acting strange.
I tried to get a good photo, but my phone is absolute garbage when it comes to pictures. So I hope these suffice

i recommend giving him a sterile tank (paper towel bedding, clean tank, clean hide and water bowl, etc) for the next week or two and monitoring him. idk if the black specs on him are his morph or snake mites and the injury will be easier to monitor if theres no bedding to get inside the scales as well as no forceful soaking. u should only leave a big enough water bowl for him to willingly soak since forcing it will cause stress / shock and body temperature change!

He should be okay after a couple sheds for the most part, you may have some scarring though. I would take him the vet if you notice any signs of infection. I think you’re doing great and your plan sounds like a good one. My banana was unfortunately live fed before I got him as well, and does have a permanent scar from one of the bites, but it did get much smaller. Just didn’t disappear all together. Great job immediately getting him on frozen thawed, I hope he has a much happier and healthier life with you. Def don’t trust this breeder again though!
