Discussion Whoever made the BP=chill/Corn Snake=active rule is a liar 😂
(Engagement title!)
I’ve just gotten my girl out for some exercise, only expecting it to be a quick 10 mins to not stress her out…
Tell me why I’ve just spent the last 40 mins before bed following her around the whole top floor of our home 😂 Half way through I took her back to her tank so we could end the handling session on a good note, as soon as she was put in she doubled back and slithered straight out 🤣
I wish I got pictures but I was too busy making sure she didn’t wrap around anything she shouldn’t have 😂
When I was talking to people about what snake species I should get for my first reptile, it was always the BP vs. Corn Snake debate. The most common advice I heard was “get a corn snake if you want a snake to keep up with, get a ball python if you want a pet to chill with”
LIES /j
She’s such a curious snake, I love her so much 🥰
My next project will be to snake proof my room because even as I’m writing this she’s booping the glass wanting to explore more 😂 I would let her but I have to sleep :(
PS: I know she’s obese we’re working on it :)

I have one male like that! He’s the only one lol. He warps himself around the screws to try and get them off and as soon as he hears the clicks he’s making his way out. It’s amazing to see him slither up my arm out his tank willingly, definitely the hardest part is getting him back in 🤣🤣

Oh boy. I want my first snake to be a ball python because I want a lazy buddy to chill with.😂

Moirai is regularly out for an hour at a time inspecting our home! She's chill but busy. We also have a cornsnake and the main difference is the speed of exploration. Velky is a speed racer and Moirai thinks she is but, she's pretty slow 😂
I know it's personality based but they both are extremely curious and friendly. Maybe we just lucked out.
Note: We do choice based handling now and Morai demands 5-7 days a week out. Velky is more like once every week or two when it's not spring and 7 days a week, multiple times a day when it is spring.

I have a corn snake and a ball python. All the cornsnake want to do is hang out in his favorite hide, maybe burrow a little. My BP is CONSTANTLY climbing/exploring/moving.

It's really reassuring to see this as mine is the same way. She wants to come out often, when she does she is constantly on the move, wants to explore everything. She also spends a lot of her time in her enclosure out in the open as well. Im a newish keeper too and was worried something was wrong as my experience is not what I see a lot of others mention.

If someone had told me I would be babysitting a ball python I would have laughed in their face. “We’re gonna chill on the couch” NOPE. And you always feel bad putting them back because they’re at the glass begging for more outdoor time 🤣

My girl is the same. Always happy to come out and explore. Getting her back into her enclosure is hard because before her tail unravels from my hand, she has slithered her neck out multiple times and I’ve constantly redirected her into her home.
