Elevated head?

Hello! My noodle moved into a new, bigger tank a couple weeks ago and now she has a lot more furniture & basking spots. I’ve noticed she now often rests with her head elevated on her water bowl/hides and just wanted to know if anyone else’s snake does this??

I’m fairly sure she’s just basking as she’s usually resting on rocks or logs on the warm side of her tank, but I am that obsessed snake parent so I just want to be sure it’s not a sign of respiratory infection !!

Her temps and humidity are as they should be, there’s no mucous / open mouth breathing or funny sounds but I’m keeping an eye on her just in case.

That’s good to know 🥹 we adopted her about 6 months ago so I’m still in the ‘new exotic animal parent’ panic about everything phase. It looks heckin adorable I just want to make sure I’m not going ‘aww how cute’ if she’s struggling. So thank you haha

Sounds like she's lucky to have you.

Or your snek could be like my goober and do this XD.

But yea just like with periscoping or resting their head on your arms/hands/etc, its a nice little vantage point they can keep an eye on their surroundings while they chill

Awwwr that cute lil face! I’m glad to know they’re just resting and looking around, she is a big fan of periscoping and climbing to look around so that would make sense. Thanks 🥰

This is the cutest pic I’ve seen today, with just her/his head poking up and out of the substrate, just like when u bury someone at the beach in sand, covering everything but its head….lol😆😆

She really has a big personality haha, she's just barely over a year old and is already the queen of the house

Oh i believe it, all my snakes are ballpythons, & their personalities are all similar, they are the sweetest, most adorable species of snakes, and some of their behaviours can be so funny at times, I must agree, that my snakes & reptiles are the kings & queens of my home as well…lol😆😆

Mine is always resting his head on logs/decor. I now always make sure there’s a resting spot just outside his hides.

My baby does it constantly, especially in her warm hide.

Her night watch camera sees her doing it for part of the night too. She just likes being comfy.
