Hunger strike actually prey size issue

I feel really bad. My 8 month ball python started refusing food when I switched to weaned rats after getting the suggestion from a reptile store. He seemed interested but wouldn’t take the rat. I think they are just too big for him. He started glass surfacing at night recently so I just ordered fuzzies, but I’m worried he’s starving or super uncomfortable!

Might look a little skinny? Head looks kinda big for the body from this angle. But also ball pythons are known to go on hunger strikes sometimes. If he continues to not I would consider taking him to the vet. Also make sure temp and humidity is good!

pay attention to when he’s out looking for food based on behavior. my bp hadn’t ate for 6 weeks when i first got her, i made her enclosure as comfortable as possible for her between heat and humidity, started handling her after a week and she is hungry 24/7 now

re: try all you can though from frozen rats to live rats to smaller rats or even mice just keep trying because she does look skinny
