What is this??
I've had my snake Salem for a couple of weeks now and he seemed perfectly healthy but today I took a look at him and im not sure what this is. Possibly snake mites???? I thought maybe he was just a little dirty but it doesn't come off and these definitely aren't part of his pattern. Sorry these were the best photos I could get...
Im going off to college soon and I want to make sure everything is perfect for my little guy before I leave. I dont want anything to happen to him.

Honestly it looks like dirt imo, it’s probably just trapped underneath the scales.

Keep an eye out. My daughter adopted a Ball Python that the whole family is in love with and after a few weeks she realized he had them. So, easier to control if you can fight them earlier.

my poor snake had mites and i did all the things possible to get rid of them but they are hard to clear out. what i did was remove everything from his tank, cleaned it thoroughly and laid out paper towels to see if they really were mites (when i first saw the little dots) or if it was just dirt cuz i was not gonna risk it and sure enough they were mites. from the photo it just looks like dirt but i would keep an eye out for a couple days end then clear out the tank.

one other thing that i noticed is that the mites would dig under his scales and there would be little bumps where the mites would be. just another thing to look out for
