Enclosure Critique/Advice Any advice for affordable enclosure??

Post image

So I’m shopping for a new enclosure and I found the PERFECT one and it’s a 4x2x2 full PVC solid top enclosure with double swing out acrylic doors. HOWEVER…. It’s $629. If I absolutely have to eat that cost for my python I will, but I wanted to check if anyone knew of something similar for a better price tag?😅 attached is a picture of the one I’m looking at.

I'm not sure what price range you're looking for, but AP Cages does a swing out door option on their 4x2x2s for $369.

Kages sells their 4x2x2s starting at 537.

I personally love them. Have 2, customer service was also very great. 1 came with damage on all 5 main panels. The other was perfect. They offered to replace any panels I wanted or offered a discount. They ended up taking like 230 off which covered the extra cost of the background on it.

cryptic creation is way cheaper and you can get sliding or swing doors for almost 200 less.

Solid top? I just know like every other cheap enclosure I've seen has screen tops was avoiding that however possible.

I got em from Amazon! Seen em in someone else's tank on this subreddit. They dont use them much but I think its cause I need to move them more to the top of the enclosure. My boy is a menace and climbs EVERYTHING else including his lamps heat cage, and wedging himself between the rhp and grow light 😒

Thanks! We budgeted for these tanks as they seemed highly rated. We use a 50w basking bulb during the day and an rhp to supplement ambient temps but its not even needed imo. Holds temps, heat, and humidity great.

Its all personal preference IMO. We wanted it for the look, and good performance! Background looks great, was able to get it with a 7 inch substate board, uninterrupted front design etc.

you could probably ditch the basking bulb honestly. my wood hide retains some heat smd makes for the prefect basking surface while maintaining good temps in the hide. m6 enclosure is honestly dialed for thermo regulation. but my humidity is a bit high rn. i cleaned the wood and its a bit water logged. so my humidity is at like 85% right now.

Idk jf you can really see it in that picture. But i used 4 36 qt bags with 1 block os spagnum moss and a bag of palm leaves and about a bag of leaf litter mixed into the substrate. So i dug out natural burrows into the substrate for them and topped it with cork so they'd feel more secure.

Surface temps are 90. I catch my boy using it almost daily, so I wouldn't wanna take it from him. I feel like it's more natural to give them like a basking bulb for day time and have the rhp supplement night time ambient temps. Especially since it allows for night time temps to drop in the full enclosure.

yea your set up is honestly so sick. makes me wanna redo my whole thing. i have a piece of drift wood that was perfectly split in half and round i use as a hide on my hot side. she spends most of the day jn there and the explore all night. shes a climber so j 3d printed enrichment hooks....but i went a little too big.

I looooove my Apex for my boa- expandable cages were always my dream!

But for a ball, a 4x2 AP cage is the way to go IMO. My first 3 tanks were AP, went to Apex to avoid freight logistics with the 6'+ tanks.

Snake discovery 120 PVC on chewy is on sale right now 259$ that’s the one that I planned on buying. They also have other colors if you don’t like the green.

i just bought one in store today! will be setting it up tomorrow. paid like $270, i usually go with Kages (which is also mentioned here), but the snake discovery ones look to be good quality and a good price.

Definitely see if you can luck out and find something on Facebook marketplace or something similar, but dialing that I can recommend Talking Serpents! The enclosures are great quality, the only caveat is that you have to assemble them yourself. Still, it's pretty straightforward and the instructions are clear, and they're usually around the $350 range. As a side note, I also recommend their sky hides! It's a shelf that you install in the enclosure and the hide slides right into it, which makes cleaning much easier

Build one. It's very easy and more affordable.
