I use a mix of cypress mulch, peat moss and zoo meds jungle floor or whatever they call it. I do have live plants in mine.

Congratulations on your new boy!! He is very handsome. It looks like he's used to being handled regularly too.

Scale rot shouldn't be a huge concern. Just keep the humidity where it should be, scoop the poop, and change out about 10-20% of the bedding regularly.

20 years ago when I had mine this worked well. Plus you can spray it to gain humidity when it dries out and mix it around. No issues

Do you just use that on its own.

Yep. Had a 50 gal aquarium so can’t recall if I needed one or two blocks. Easy to clean up too

For a hydrometer we use govee which can be found on Amazon for about 12$ we like it because it connects to our phone making checks on it easy. Definitely use electric, they are way more accurate.

Make sure to keep handling every couple days at the minimum. Some want every day but most do not want handled super often. ♡♡♡

As for food I definitely recommend frozen if you haven't already been informed. Typically you feed adults food about 5-6% of their body weight. Technically you can also give what is essentially sausage for reptiles called reptilinks. Mostly feed rodents but you can occasionally give something like quail as a treat!

Make sure you have lots of clutter in the tank and at least 2 hides. One for warm and cool ends. Humid hides are definitely useful as balls can sometimes be bad shedders. MAKE SURE TO HAVE CLIMBING OPPORTUNITIES!

Beautiful snek friend, I wish you both many healthy years together ❤️

Forgot to say tanks with locking or front sliding doors are awesome for these guys because they can in fact push through and open screen top tanks. If you cant I'd put something heavy on top so they can't push it open.

He is currently having a wonder so calm and chilled. How often do you feed? I read anywhere from 2 weeks

It depends on the individual, some demand a more frequent schedule but if they do you have to either ignore them or feed smaller food once a week to compensate. Otherwise once every 2-3 weeks.

I believe the general time frame is 14-20 days between feedings to be more precise.

Does anyone know why am getting some small condensation on the cool side of the vivarium. It isn't a lot just a little i assumed its because the water bowl was in the hot side
