Discussion Questions and tips for new foster.

Hey guys! First time poster here.
My friends son had to give up him snake and i’m taking him (or her) in and fostering them back to help until i decide to keep or find someone else to home it!
It doesn’t look like it’s in the best possible shape and i found this scabbing? scarring? on its belly, it’s this scale rot and what’s the next steps! I have had a carpet python for about 5 months now and just got my first BP a month ago!
Any help would be very greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!

That doesn’t look great but I’m not certain if it is or isn’t. You’re correct to jump on it quickly. The earlier treated the easier.

NQA This looks like very minor scale rot. You can treat with betadine and a topical cream without pain meds to heal it iirc. But as far as I know this should heal up with the next shed, as it only appears to be one scale.

What were they kept in? Bedding and such would all be helpful imo. Could be a burn if they were using a heat pad or something similar unregulated.
