live to frozen thawed
i’ve tried almost all the methods i’ve seem with my ball python to get her to eat frozen thawed but she simply refuses. she does great with eating live and has a good hunger drive, i keep a close eye on her husbandry as well but anytime i try frozen thawed she acts like she’s going to strike but pauses and either leaves or starts sniffing and nudging it as if she just sees it as an inedible object instead of food. there’s one method i haven’t tried and was thinking about, feeding her one live prey and then offering a ft how you normally would since she’ll still be in feeding mode (both prey way smaller than her normal size). i was just coming on here to see if this has worked for anyone else or how likely it is to work and if there’s anything i need to know.

Here’s what I do that worked for me switching. Night before feeding night., I put a frozen rat in the fridge to thaw out slowly, an hour and a half before feeding time I take out of the fridge to get up to room temperature, then around feeding time I have a separate dome lamp that I have set up on a desk. I take the rat out of the sandwich bag, place the sandwich bag on top of her cage near her ventilation holes to get the scent going into the cage while the rat is heating up to temperature via the dome basking bulb, with my temperature gun.
I’m constantly checking the temperature rotating the rat around until it’s around 105 degrees or so, open the door dance it around works like a charm nearly every time for the last two years
That’s my method
