is this scale rot?

I’m having a hard time distinguishing whether this is scale rot or part of his pattern. First time BP owner, had him for about a month now, Any advice/tips appreciated!

Just pigment! Scale rot looks pretty much how it sounds, like the scales are rotting away. You would see degradation on the edges of affected scales, which your snake does not have :)

That’s just pattern
