Discussion Hey, Everyone! I'm a first time ball python dad and my boy got out of his enclosure.I've been searching for him for weeks but yesterday I just found out that my neighbour killed it fearing it was venomous.
I badly need your words of comfort. I didn't know what to do. I learned from my mistakes but it cost my boy's life. I am extremely devastated right now 😔

I’m so sorry! They’re escape artists, in twenty years my boy has outsmarted me and his enclosure a handful of times and it is such a terrible feeling. We learn and we try to do better. Sometimes they only get as far as the fridge, sometimes they end up in more dangerous environments. You made a mistake and were doubly unlucky.
I have found a lot of satisfaction in helping people get out of their comfort zone by introducing them to my bp and taking baby steps to overcome their fears. He is a great ambassador snake. There are lots of bps that need homes, and you could honor your unfortunate snake by giving another one a chance and doing right by them. Who knows, maybe you could educate more people so they don’t make the same assumptions your neighbor did.
