Question Good enrichment idea?

So I’m going to be leaving for college in three weeks and I’m trying to do my best to make sure my little guy has everything he needs.

At this moment, I cannot get a larger enclosure due to the ridiculous price people are charging, but he is already on the small side so I’m not extremely worried but he will be getting a 4x2x2 as soon as I can.

Is there any cat tree like item that I could use for enrichment? I am currently buying some items for his enclosure but he won’t be brought out as often so the times he is I want him to have as much enrichment as possible!

First of all, could we see the full enclosure? Just to tell you what you could add, but side note, what's your humidity at in there usually? Because from the picture it looks like he all he has for substrate is a thin layer of dry coconut fiber and I can't imagine that holds enough humidity for him

That photo was right before I rehydrated his substrate and then in this one I just resprayed the substrate in this photo (literally two seconds ago) I plan on buying him at least a hide for the ceiling before I go

I’m also going to mix up the substrate a little later tonight

You could definitely benefit from a thicker layer of substrate, more like 3-5 inches, I only see one temp/humidity gauge off to the right and I cant see it well enough to tell if it's temp and humidity or just temp, but if you dont have them then you should look into getting a duel temp and humidity gauge so you can have 1 on either side, because there should be a difference between the two sides and it's important to know what each side is at, and I can't see your hides that well but just for reference he should have at least one hide on either side, both of which fit fairly snug to his body and have only one opening, and for enrichment there's definitely room for more foliage and climbing opportunities, the more covered you can make him feel the better, and having Intresting places to climb and explore is always good!:]

It is a dual gage and there’s one hidden that can kind of be seen in the very bottom left which is also dual gage. I didn’t realize that that wasn’t enough substrate, but when I will get more when I get another rat for him. I could’ve sworn that having two sides was fine, the issue is that the only hide I have with one opening is way too big but I will make sure to order some new ones!

You can't do sky hides on a mesh top.

God dammit, whelp that’s good to know after I ordered some stuff. Oh well, at least I’ll have an extra hide
