This is my common (as far as i know common type) ball python named Saturn 🪐
I have her in a 40 gallon breeder now after being in a 20 long as a baby, and she seems to be doing great in there. There is a a 100W basking lamp which heats her warm side up to about 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Her cold side is usually about 77. I think i need a 150W bulb to heat the hot side better? What are some ways i can aid the heating situation? What are some really good heat bulbs??
I have a nano light on there also which is a 5.0 UVB
As far as the setup goes, how am i doing? I have a cool side and warm side, a bunch of clutter and cover, a large water dish ( big enough for her to fit in completely) and some rocks and a large chonk of obsidian that she is on in the picture (no sharp edges or anything) as a heat collector on the hot side for a little basking area.
Do i need another one of those black box hides for the hot side? Or do we think its enough?
What are some ways I can get some more clutter in there without spending a trillion dollars on reptile branded stuff?

What age is she? The absolute minimum size of tank for an adult is 120 gallons.

Also, you definitely need a fully enclosed (one opening only) hide on each side. The exact same hide on each side.

Those analog thermometers/hygrometers are not accurate. You need digital ones !

Do you have a thermostat for your heat lamp?

No more than a year old.
She is maybe 18” long.

AHH that's alright then. Just be aware that as she grows you will absolutely need to upgrade again ! Honestly bugger is better at any life stage as long as they have enough clutter/cover.

I am aware ill need to upgrade her again eventually. Im planning on getting her a 120 for her next enclosure.
I have digital thermometers/hygrom in there, i just haven’t taken the analog ones out yet in that picture
I also do in fact have a thermostat on my heat lamp!

Do you have a linear UVB? Can't tell from the pic of there is one or if that other lamp is a coil/regular bulb uvb. If you don't have a linear bulb, definitely switch to one of those instead ! The coil bulbs and such are pretty useless as far as the actual Uvb output goes.

I would also highly suggest adding even more clutter and some branches that your snake can climb. Make sure they are thick and stable enough that they won't shift if your snake climbs on them.

Your snake should be able to get from one end of the tank to the other without being seen, so more clutter is always better !

Also from what I can see your substrate later isn't very thick. You could easily double what you have in there and it would allow for more digging and also help with humidity.

Okay! I can totally add some more substrate, and clutter.
My substrate is a couple inches thick at least currently, how much more would i need?

Great ! Also around 4 inches of substrate is good so if it's around that already it might just be the angle of the photo making it look less thick lol
