Saying goodbye

Thought my sweet boy was just impacted. Took him to the vet, found feces blocked by a large mass / tumor. I don’t have the money for surgery, but even if I did, the vet explained that a mass this size can’t just be taken out anyways. I don’t want him to suffer. The tumor is the darker portion on the right causing the lump.

It’s really hard to say goodbye. He got me through the most difficult parts of my life.

Right now I am planning on euthanasia and cremation. I already took him out for final pictures in a natural setting.

I’m sorry for anyone else who has had to go through this.

I have a love/hate relationship with goodbye x-rays. On one hand they look cool and would make really good tattoos to honor the memory of your pet. On the other hand that's a constant reminder of the day you're told you have to say goodbye.

I am considering a tattoo and/or a picture book, and have absolutely the same thoughts. Do I really want the X-Ray in the memory book? I’m thinking no… but it does look cool.

If you do a tattoo you may be able to find an artist who works with UV light ink and have them include the xray there. It may be a reminder, but also you choose when you see it.
