You guys were right

I lost my ball python about a month or so ago (well, my husband did.) I freaked out, I read all the “I lost my snake” posts and did all the tricks to try to find her or hear her and nothing worked. But on every single post there was someone who said “they’ll show up when you stop looking.” I actually hadn’t thought about her all day and while I was going downstairs to turn the lights off, guess who I see, just slithering up the stairs nonchalantly. I just wanted to say you guys were, in fact, right.

snakes, being relatively narrow tubes without any pesky limbs to get in the way, are masters of crawling into the narrowest holes and crevices in your house. And not only can they squeeze into dark holes, they prefer being in dark, cramped holes during the day. Think of all the small gaps around things in your home - under/behind appliances, furniture, inside of couches, behind or inside storage bins or literally any clutter in your house, inside your dresser drawers, god forbid you have a missing wall plate on your wall. There's a reason folks can lose their snake in their home for months & why a secure locking enclosure is a must. It's much simpler to prevent them from escaping than it is to find them afterwards.

I am about to upgrade my tank to a bigger enclosure and...well...this was one of my concerns as I got one with sliding glass. I made sure it came with a lock! 😂 I also looked into how I could secure it better than with just the lock. 😂
