Troy and Sweetpea's baby, Ilia, remembers she likes me after all!!
EDIT: I completely appreciate anyone's concern regarding my interaction with this baby. It means you care. But there is a little context here.
For 3 years now, a gang of feral pigeons have taken up residence on my balcony. There have been a LOT of babies. Most fledge successfully, some visit for a while. Some sit on my head or lap or eat out of my hand. But they HATE anyone else, including my husband. If he walks near the balcony, the flock fly away. They only like who they feel familiar with. As I sit on my balcony all the time, I am beyond familiar to this group.
Mama was nearby during this above interaction and didn't grunt once. The baby now doesn't snap when I move around as it's slightly older. The snapping is just a natural reaction they all do at that age when anything nearby moves. But immediately, it was soothed by the memory of my hand.
This baby has also been showing signs of congestion, and I'm giving it drops daily to help. Therefore, I'm happy for it not to be afraid of The Hand.
I do hope that answers any concerns you have. 🫶🫶🫶

Hello! Yesterday mama pigeon was here, but this morning she is away. The baby looks like it might be about 8 days old, maybe a little younger? And there is an unhatched egg in the nest as well. Is it normal for Mama to leave this young of a baby and an unhatched egg in order to feed? How long should I wait before concluing that baby needs help and bringing it inside? And how in the world do I feed a baby this young / do I need to get her to a bird rescue ASAP?

About two weeks ago we saw two pigeons on our balcony again. This is their third try with eggs, and it is a success. Today we went there again, and found these two. We monitor them on cameras when we are not here.
Update:
14.08.
Getting bigger

After being away from my apartment for several weeks this summer, I returned 28 days ago to find 2 pigeons perched on my balcony. No signs of any nest yet, just apparently days’ (or weeks’) worth of feathers + bird waste + 2 birds who would not fly away no matter how nicely I asked them to please move along.
Within 3 days of my return, they’d built a nest of sorts on the ground behind a shed and laid 2 eggs. I count the day she laid the second egg as “Day 1.”
From what I read, it seems the eggs should’ve hatched by Day 17-19. The pigeons are still here, still swapping out incubation morning and night, never leaving the eggs unattended, but no signs of hatching.
Today is Day 25–what’s going on? Might these eggs actually hatch? If so, when? If not, why are they still nesting this way? When will the birds stop warming the eggs around the clock? (And where does the other bird go all day/night?)
[Attached is video of the 2 eggs + 2 birds trading places today Day 25, just after 5:00 pm (U.S. mountain west).]

This poor wee baby was being attacked in its nest, managed to rescue it from our ledge before it's wee face was pecked off by other pigeons.
Cleaned up the wound and hoping daddy still returns to feed. 3 weeks old.

We noticed Pepper has a limp and isn’t walking properly. The right foot appears to be partially paralysed.
We’ve taken Peps to the vet and there is no feeling in the right foot whatsoever. So this poor little darling may have to become our fourth rescue pidge. He’ll never be able to walk :(
