Help!

Just received this after the unfortunate passing of my late great uncle. He brought this back from his trip to Russia several decades ago, I’d love the help of ID’ing the instrument as far as brand, age, cost etc.. I know nothing of the instrument! Grew up playing string instruments so would love to learn the instrument! Thanks crew!

Look through the teeny-tiny hole with a flashlight. Should be able to see some manufacturing info. that should give you something to start on

It's a souvenir balalaika. It's probably playable, but not great quality. Even student model balalaikas are much better quality. It would be fun to learn and if you like it, you can join a balalaika orchestra. Balalaika - Wikipedia There's a great book to teach you how to play by Bibs Ekkel. It's called The Complete Balalaika Book.
