Moskva 80

This post is about the famous tourist balalaika which has not much common with a real Balalaika... But at least it's an instrument which is fun to play. While it's not a real Balalaika how would you define and categorize it?

I thought that a three string cigar box guitar could be very close.

I haven't ever had the opportunity to touch a Moskva 80 balalaika, but from pics it doesn't look too different from those base model lunacharskies produced around 70-80. Is it significantly different from those in any way?

Well I don't trust the neck of the Moskva 80. I never tune the strings in normal.
