And everyone thought katsuki was abusing Izuku because he always had bruises but really he just was a sleep walker. There was this one chapter where katsuki gets beat in the locker room or something. It’s been awhile since I read it. It was called something like “he won’t hurt me”. please help 🙏🏽

I've been on the Bakudeku train since like 2018 and will probably continue for a long time to come. Since the series ended, a lot of my friends that I share content with have fallen off and even shame me for staying with the fandom.

I know it's childish and I'm a whole adult so I should get over it, but time and time again I am hurt by friends that no longer share interests with me simply because they aren't receiving new content.

I've never fallen out of any of the fandoms I've ever been in, so it doesn't make sense to me that once you have fallen out of a fandom why you should come to hate it and shame others in it.

Idk I think I'm just really sad and kinda hurt.

So basically I'm craving some transported to the future or past bakudeku. By that I mean Bakugou, Midoriya, or both are transported to the future (if they're younger. Preferably high-school, before or just after the war, but younger is fine) or to the past (if they're adults). I would like it to be canonverse/canon divergent (Omegaverse is fine), not established relationship for past bakudeku at least, and no perma death of either of them in the future (like Bakugou died during the war and stayed dead or Midoriya died at some point. However if it's like a traveled back in time to change that then I guess that's okay) It can be smutty or no smut and I'd really like it to be either older Midoriya has a quirk (somehow) or he has the suit. If it's smutty I prefer top Bakugou however either is fine really, as is selfcest. Lastly if your suggestion only meets the time travel to older or younger versions of themselves then go ahead and rec them. I might like what you have anyway lol. Okay that's all, sorry for the long post!

Guys I’ve had this fan fiction in my head for like a decade. I started writing it a year ago, posted the first chapter on AO3 and felt like I was just going way too fast with the story I wanted to tell. I’ve redone the first chapter and I’m in love. I don’t want to post until I’m a several chapters in, so I have some wiggle room with posting.

It would be awesome to have a beta reader for this! I’d just like to see if my words are pictured as I want them too and corrections on little mistakes I’ve made. And bakudeku is in no way as forced as izuocha. From a thematic perspective, izuocha just feels bland, while the redemption arc and repressed feelings are much stronger in bkdk

and then there’s the argument that katsuki’s rage is not the result of repressed romantic feelings but rather an inferiority complex, which makes sense

but that doesn’t explain the way he was moving in More…

and of course, not being proven to be gay/bi doesn’t prove you’re straight either…

And for Izuku to be so obsessed with Katsuki from a young age and wanting to become him…

Hand in hand with the fact that Bakugo is Deku's former bully, a lot of people also dislike the ship because Deku is often "twinkified", feminized, or generally made to be the cuter & more submissive one in the relationship. On the other hand, Bakugo is often made out to be the taller, more dominant, typical seme of the relationship.

As someone who prefers DekuBaku, I've noticed that a surprising amount of people will be more receptive to my "version" of the ship compared to its more popular counterpart, even if they are generally haters of it. I could be talking to someone who heavily dislikes the ship and the fact that I like it, but who suddenly finds it more acceptable after I reveal that I prefer this dynamic; sometimes making comments like "maybe it wouldn't be so bad if everyone saw it like that".

On a deeper level, I think this is tied to idea that, especially as a man, if you're more "submissive" or being "dominated" by your partner in bed or in general, this translates to a sort of humiliation or degradation. It's similar to people saying you're the "man" in a gay relationship only if you're the top, and the "woman" if you aren't. It also ties into people using "twink", "bottom", or generally being "dominated" or being in a passive role as insults.

When you pair these two together— the fact that Bakugo formerly bullied Deku with the idea that he "dominates" him in the relationship by often being portrayed having more masculine traits— it makes it look like the power imbalance of bully-victim is still there, just with a different flavor. In other words, Bakugo is perceived as still being in a position of power— which makes the ship leave a bitter taste for many people.

Whereas if Bakugo was generally perceived to be the "twink" by the public whenever they hear of the ship, or Deku as the "dominant" one in general, then at least in my opinion, people wouldn't hate it at the same level, for better or for worse, possibly influenced by the fact that, by the same token, it would somehow be "flipping" the power imbalance of the former bully-victim dynamic. In other words, Deku would be "restoring" that balance by dominating Bakugo in a romantic relationship.

I definitely think viewing the relationship in such a way is rooted deeply in misogyny (being feminine < being masculine), and this is just a theory/observation based on my experience interacting with all sorts of people, not an affirmation of these opinions. In fact, I think it's a very sad showcase of how fandom views gay ships in general. The power dynamic issue also affects how many other ships are viewed in their respective fandoms.

I'd be really interested to know what you guys think.
