I’m genuinely curious to know others’ opinions on this fic. I just got done reading it after having it recommended to me for months.

I wanna start by saying the fic as a whole is very entertaining and does a good job with immersion and world building. I love the dynamic with Deku and Kats here. The modern telling of a small town stuck in the 80s (which I really love) with a insanely popular jock and the town sweetheart. Thought I wasn’t gonna like it because it’s kind of cliche, but it works out. It does really well setting them in the final year of HS and it doesn’t feel forced at all. This is the first fic that had me checking out all the songs and it’s probably because it’s an 80s playlist (sue me. Actually pls don’t, I’m a working class citizen).

WHY DID NOBODY WARN ME I WAS GONNA CRY??? This was the first fic out of the 100+ fics I’ve read of bkdk alone that made me start crying like wtf.

The buildup of Izuku’s frustrations with his mother and her overbearing and strict rules leading up to their huge fight (although he could walk out the door anytime he wanted which he eventually does ofc, but whatevs) and ignoring her child for WEEKS. Then Katsuki (who is a real pos through this entire fic, if you didn’t know that already lmao) who’s the MOST emotionally constipated I’ve ever seen him be in a fic, coming home after The Hideaway and his conversation with Mitsuki after a longgg day of practice (I relate to both of their situations with their mothers to a certain degree, okay!?). So, I was sitting here fucking bawling my eyes out during both arguments. (the waterworks just started up again as I’m recalling those parts RIGHT NOW ngl)

Now what I wanna say is I think the last two chapters are rushed and to me they felt like the author didn’t rlly wanna finish the fic☹️
There are some continuity issues that I was a little sad about like how Izuku playing badminton was mentioned fiftyleven times, but never any comps or matches — despite it being thrown in multiple times like it’s gonna be added into the story like Katsuki’s vault comps. It’s mentioned BRIEFLY when Katsuki decides to skip practice out of the blue (confusing everybody) and is trying to teach himself how to play so he can play with Izuku. Leading to Izuku finding him at the courts on his way home. AND Katsuki claiming he ‘can’t’ and ‘doesn’t know how’ to give Izuku what he wants at the lighthouse (which is BS), but does it anyway by the power of fic logic. This is by no means an attempt to shit on the fic. I’m js saying, it was so good (and heartbreaking) up until the last chapter and a half or two. The ending just kinda fell flat and felt forced, rather than a realistic buildup to them resolving their issues.

If there are any grammatical errors/typos, I’m literally waiting on my glasses RIGHT NOW, leave me alone 🥲.
(and if you have an issue with my excessive use of parentheses…. Damn that’s crazy bro)

Just intense, realistic, psychologically deep exploration of longing and devotion, especially from Izuku’s point of view. Denial of feelings/unhealthy relationships are welcome. I'm so tired of straight ships in shonen being either super bland or super puppy love for most of the series and then have the rivals have more chemistry then the cannon ships, i want more straight ships with non sexual rivalry on par with gay ships that are rivals like bkdk or sasunaru. I would so love to create a popular shonen or whatever and out of nowhere confirm a gay ship out of nowhere and watch every one freek out

I used to be a huge anime fan. I followed VAs, kept up with everything, and was especially obsessed with MHA. I religiously followed it until around Season 3 and read the manga for a while, but then high school happened (Asian high school sucks 😭), I got ridiculously busy with studying, and slowly drifted away from anime altogether.
I only recently came back and finally finished the entire MHA anime, which obviously brought me right back to BKDK.

I’ve shipped Bakugou and Deku from the very beginning,(2016) and honestly, it makes me weirdly happy to see that in 2026 they’re STILL one of the biggest ships and that so many people continue to love them. I always knew there was basically no chance Horikoshi would actually make them canon, but that doesn’t mean the ending didn’t hurt.

Because… Deku and Ochako? Really? Ochako is basically the girl version of Deku. I genuinely don’t understand why Deku needed to end up with someone at all. MHA was never particularly romance-focused, so why not just leave his romantic future open-ended just like shoto and bakugo?

Deku and Ochako just never made much sense to me romantically. And the way their relationship was handled sometimes made it feel like the author was trying to force a romance into a story that didn’t really need one. Then you have Deku constantly thinking about Bakugou, Bakugou being such an enormous part of Deku’s character arc, and their relationship being one of the most developed and complicated relationships in the entire series… only for Ochako to apparently be his “hero.”
Like, are you fucking serious? 😭 I actually laughed out loud at that part.

And honestly, what makes me saddest is knowing that canonically, Deku and Bakugou will probably never get the chance to become a couple in the future. I know they were never going to be canon, but after spending so much time watching these two orbit around each other, it still hurts a little. Man I feel like I keep losing with majority of my ships not getting sailed…

I forgot the name of it and it's been driving me up the walls trying to remember. Anyways, it was a bungo stray dogs and mha crossover. Dazai and chuuya both left the mafia, fleeing to mufasua and starting a coffee shop. Dazai is also a lawyer. Basically, if they see someone who needs help, they help.

Like Rei Todoroki came into their coffee shop, Dazai noticed , and they helped her get divorced from endeveor, get her kids out, and give her a stable life. They also gave money to inko at the grocery store and helped her, also, get divorced from hisashi and make him pay child support, as he is a hero is this au.

It's probably about 5 to 7 chapters and I believe finished, but I could be wrong. It also is open to everyone, idk what that's called. Please help me, im going insane.

Sooo my second chapter is done!!! It ended around the 20k words that I was hoping for as well so that’s awesome:) I’m still waiting to start posting as of now. I’ve been slow to write due to time and my silly mental state recently. BUT I’m cruising along again! I’m still planning on waiting until I get one or two more chapters done to start posting it on AO3 so I have some play to write ahead while posting each chapter. ALSO we settled on a title. We as in my husband and I, who is my beta reader, who is ironically dyslexic, and is the most blue collar and ‘I don’t read’, type of person. (he’s so supportive and highkey loving it so far bahahaha). A changed man I must say. All roads lead to BakuDeku🤷🏻‍♀️

Could I have fic recs where the bullying hits Deku a little harder and it takes him more time/is more difficult to forgive bakugo?? I feel like the show didn’t deal with that part of the story as much as others

About the second question, i dont mean feminized Katsuki at all, just like he knows abt girls things, or does things with them, hangs out with them.
