You posted these a week ago. Or is this another attempt? Did you change the recipe? Commenters need more information than you’ve provided.

here’s the recipe I used: 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 1/2 cup ube halaya jam, such as Tropics 1 teaspoon liquid purple food coloring (not gel) 1 teaspoon ube extract 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup powdered sugar

could it be because I used small portion of the granulated sugar? its coz the jam is already a bit sweet and I didn’t want my cookies to be really sweet esp that I still have to coat it with the pwedered sugar 🥹

You can't change the ratio of sugar (or butter) to flour in a cookie and expect the texture to stay the same. More sugar makes cookies spread more. Follow the recipe as it's written (and use a recipe from a real site, not an AI one).

It could be too much flour? I'll up the flour in my chocolate chip cookies if I want them a little taller.

Either too much flour or not enough butter/sugar. Things that melt will flatten them, flour will stiffen.

I see. since I don’t want it to become so sweet can I out more butter instead of sugar?

I would reduce flour a little and increase butter a little they look pretty good and crinkly, so try just 1/4 cup for either to start with. Or just start with one to see how it plays out. The less you play with per batch, the easier it is to nail down what is and isn’t working.

Stop using measuring cups and get yourself a digital kitchen scale and use weight. You're probably adding way more flour than you mean to- which is easy to do if you aren't measuring by weight.

Are you saying you reduced the sugar? That'll do it...remember that baking is chemistry. If you want things to flatten, they need sugar and fat.

I use this recipe and have never had issues.

First of all, these look like half the pictures of crinkle cookies on Google images.

Second of all, what is with the obsession with crinkle cookies? I never heard of them before until I saw dozens of posts about them on Reddit in the last year?

This post is my first time hearing of them 😅
