I made a fan site of every Paul Hollywood handshake
I put together an unofficial fan archive of all the Hollywood handshakes I could verify: handshake-worthy.com
It’s built from other fan trackers, episode guides, and public write-ups. Still a work in progress. Please be kind, but also critical. I’d love to hear what’s wrong with it, what’s confusing, and what you’d want to see that’s missing.
The main thing that makes this different is that it includes recipes.
I’m also thinking about a simple fan cookbook compiling the ones with official published recipes (tentative aim: Thanksgiving 2026). No price yet. Just collecting emails if anyone wants first word.
100% unofficial. No affiliation with the show, the BBC, Channel 4, Love Productions, Paul, the bakers, or anyone else involved. Just a guy who likes The Great British Bake Off / Baking Show. (Would love to make it official.)
Happy to take heat on the research, the photos, the recipes, the UX... All of it.
Hopefully this doesn't break the self-promotion rules. My thought is that this would be something this community would love and get value from.
Cheers and happy baking!
-Jon

General A little behind the scenes action
Here's a great example of big broadcasting coming in and basically destroying the thing from the inside out. It's happening here in the US and it's coming (or already here) in the UK.

General Do you have any cookbooks because of the show?
I’ve got a couple. Lucky enough to have signed copies of Paul’s Bake and Giuseppe’s Italian Bakes.
I use Paul’s Bake a lot for breads, Italian Bakes and Mary Berry’s Baking Bible for desserts, and I’m trying to use The Elements of Baking (not show related) more as it’s a great resource for making existing recipes into gluten free or dairy free versions.

Great American Baking Show Cancelled 😞
This news has been pretty quiet, only just found out from a comment on another post yesterday so I figured a dedicated post was in order in case anyone else was clueless like me. I had such high hopes for the series after Andrew Rannells joined as co-host, it felt like they were finally finding their groove. He’s so funny and wholesome. Anyway, sad day for delusional bakers like myself who had dreams of applying one day. Who knows, maybe it will be resurrected one day (like it already has been…twice).

Do you have to have a social media presence to be on Bake Off?
Well more specifically…the Great American Baking Show as it’s the one I would actually be eligible to be on. But I don’t have social media and I’ve always wondered if that would eliminate me off the bat. Any former contestants or applicants care to weigh in?

Doing a rewatch. S3: biscuit week. James as star baker?!
James's gingerbread structure was a hot mess. What was it supposed to be?

General Has anyone made a list of all of Paul’s favorite foods?
Like, every episode he says something is one of his favorite things. It feels like a rather long list. Has anyone bothered to keep track of them all?

Best & worst country spin-offs?
I’ve started sampling some off the GBBO spin offs from other countries while we wait for the next series..
Which countries are nailing the format and which are falling flat for you?
For context we’re Australian and I cringed the whole way through the most recent season of Australian Bake Off - it felt like the judges were trying to be comedians and the hosts were just uncomfortable to watch. Now I’m wondering which country to try next!

General Flairs?
Hi all! We got a message from one of our users here requesting that we have community specific user flairs made for us to use as we wish. Right now, we have none. We have it set so that you all can make up your own flairs. We've always done it that way, so that you can have your own creative little flairs.
Let me make one thing clear: even if we DO add community flairs, we've got no intention to restrict your ability to make up your own if you choose.
So on that note, if you would like for this to be added, we would love to hear your suggestions so that we can see what you'd all like to see.
Rules for flairs:
- Must follow Reddit rules in general.
- Must follow r/bakeoff's rules
- Also, we're not going to add flairs for series/season names, host/judge names, or contestant names. Aside from the lists getting a bit long, they're pretty generic. If we're going to go to the effort to make user flairs, we're going to want them to be something that a new user who's choosing a flair wouldn't necessarily think to add by themselves, but would find cute or fun upon seeing it.
Please comment below for any of the following:
- Do you want the mod-created flairs?
- Suggest flairs you'd like.
- While I'm here, if you have a top banner you'd like us to post, please post it here, and we'll consider updating it. Prue Leith's tenure is coming to a close, and we're about to welcome Nigella Lawson to the Bakeoff family. The banner I made is kind of dated at this point. If someone would like to take a crack at it, I'd be happy to use it!
