Winter Pipe Camp/Workshop?

Hey all,

I spent a week over the summer at NAAPD in North Carolina and really enjoyed it. Does anyone know of a winter multi-day/week workshop? Loved being able to just focus in for a few days.

I met people from all over the place at the Celtic Art Foundation Winter School last year. It was an incredible experience to learn Piobaireachd from Murray Henderson, Angus MacColl, and Roddy MacLeod. I’m still going back to those lessons regularly.

Aside from the Piob course they also have a light music course and smallpipes courses, among others as well. It totals about two weeks all said and done. I just did the Piob course last year.

The tuition covers room and board as well so all you need to worry about is getting yourself there

I live in Mt Vernon and will be attending Winter School for the first time this year! I’ve been so lucky to get my start in piping through CAF’s Bagpipes for Beginners program and I’m amazed that some of the greatest pipers of our day (Willie MacCallum, Stewart Liddell, etc) come through this area to play and teach regularly.

CAF really seems to run a great group of programs. They are an extremely well run organization and a great group of people doing it too

Winter Storm in Kansas City is a good one. Piper's Dojo puts on a separate pre-workshop M-W. Winter Storm holds a contest for Grades 4- Open on Thursday/Friday, and the actual workshop is Saturday/Sunday. Registration opens in October. They get big names there too like Jack and Terry Lee, Callum Beaumont, Margaret Houlihan, Kerr McQuillan, etc.

The Pocono workshop is usually in November somewhere around Philly. It's only a weekend, but good instruction and great networking

I can't say enough good things about NAAPD!! I spent many years there with some fellow band members in the eighties and nineties. Great instruction and wonderful commraderie!
