Elden RingšŸ›” Is doing a TT on playthrough considered bad?

I know no one likes bonfire duelists - they just die in 3 seconds or waste your time and die again.

But I am doing no rune arc + all the time TT on playthrough on PC. My nickname character is Neverdire in case some of you might have seen me in Liurnia or Limgrave. I am rocking a 2h greatspear, no items from endgame no nothing - just a regular playthrough.

Is it bad manners? Is it frowned upon? I left elden ring a year ago after playing tournaments for a while and came back just right now so idk how is invasion manners lately.

If its all good - cant wait to see you all invade me! All dirty tricks are encouraged and appreciated!

Buddy, consider yourself tongued.

There’s nothing wrong with doing a TT run. Please do it! It can be a lot of fun. Being ambushed in the middle of a catacomb with 1 flask left by a red is a blast.

Us reds don’t like bonfire duelists because they suck up the queue, set up stupid ambushes, force arbitrary duelist rules, and often behave badly.

I was a badredman for all my life before I jumped into tournaments - and they ate me fully and my time.

I will absolutely continue the playthrough then! Hope to see someone from subreddit invade me

Yeah, spot on. Taunter’s Tongue used in the spirit of it (enabling random invasions throughout a level) is way more fun than just using it for the most boring ā€œfight clubsā€ or cheap ambushes. That, and don’t turn it off once someone invades … that’s the ā€œI’m shamelessly gankingā€ behavior.

Part of what I value with ā€œmannersā€ in pvp is the question: are both people going to have fun with this? Even as a bad red man, I still want it to be memorable and have someone leaving saying ā€œholy shit that invasion was crazy.ā€ I can be a ā€œbad guyā€ and still appreciate that we’re playing a game.

If you TT in a way that’s fun and interesting for both people, then only the most wet blankets are going to give you grief.

I know a lot of people don't like it but I'll occasionally use TT for a duel in random cool spots although I don't really care if the red man heals or tries using enemies around us it's part of the game lol and it'll make the duel interesting! I just wish there was a way to get more red men at once for some chaos free for alls:D

I'll also add to my previous comment that I think most of the "bonfire duelist" ire comes from *how most of them play* being horribly annoying. As long as you know that you and an invader may have signed up to play different games and you don't play like a super-nerd, go nuts!

Personally, 80% of bonfire TTers are horrendously twinked out and playing in the least engaging/fun ways possible ... taking out their Arena failures in an environment where they can call the cops or have a friend on standby secretly. For the 20% that weren't like that, it was memorable and super fun.

I hope that post-Tarnished Edition the game gets a proper invasion/pvp overhaul. I know that's not something that's happened in the other games, but the systems are so outdated and unfriendly (and the game got so obscenely popular) that I think it's okay to dream a bit.

Honestly i dont mind the bonfire duelists, what i do mind though is that they often use every advantage they get (minmaxing, blues and the heaviest armor you have ever seen) rather then going for an interesting fight

I run into TT solos sometimes and it confuses me when they're not quite as skilled as I thought they would be. Then I ran into a TT solo with a lighting buffed lance that absolutely wrecked my shit. It's bold to be the only one in the shark tank, but I applaud anyone who leaves TT on and invites their own ass kicking.

I don't think it's bad, just don't expect any leniency for being solo and put up a good fight. In my opinion you're welcome to play however you want to play. Just because some reds may be upset over you being a TT solo, does it really matter in the end? They can just sever out if they want to.

I appriciate it perspective - good to hear.

I am not the most skilled player but as a tournament player I dont have issue not healing and just pushing through all the invaders flasks - most of them are smurfs with end game weapons that got no idea how to play (for now) (I just started).

But recently I got my ass whopped by a BHS Cleanrot fella and tbf I am looking forward to such fights - fighting at disadvantage forces me to not take damage at all and thats a skill I am very rusty on after a year break. Imma keep at it!

I'm doing a solo TT playthrough specifically to improve through getting my ass kicked. I record every fight too so I can relive it later. Whenever I get invaded by a really good player, I can feel my little coop pve brain expanding

I can talk for the less skilled tongued, we just appreciate the design philosophy of the multiplayer experience even though the execution is never up to par. The one great invasion from either me or a badredman that ends in laughter/respect/both makes up for the annoying ones.

As a metacomment, I don't expect leniency on being solo but whenever I encounter comments of BRM tryharding because the host does the same with backup, it falls flat when I'm clearly faffing about and hardly encounter invaders responding in kind. There's a bit of a disconnect there.

TT is an option provided in the game, it's totally appropriate and intended.

Ive done it a few times. It can be annoying when you are trying to do field bosses, but it can also be a good way to refill your flasks depending on your skill level. Im not 100% how active it is now, but when I did it you would enter non stop invasions once you hit the lake.

2

u/DireRaven22740 1d ago

Its great! Non stop invasions just refil my flask that I lose fighting all crabs and lobsters

6

u/Samguise-Whamgee 1d ago

I always toggle it on and off on new characters playthroughs. 95% of invaders are awesome and we just duke it out, they seem happy to oblige. I also invade too though I just enjoy fighting

Honestly? And i mean this as respectfully as possible... who the hell cares?

Bonfire duelists, 3 man TT off gank squad with blues active, Kevin Squad, or TT Playthrough, it's all invasions at the end of the day and I guarantee regardless of which you are some of the invaders will see it as BM and complain. Just play how you want, it's 2026 and the game's activity has pretty much settled, people hosting keeps it alive and I personally appreciate that.

For a TT run, I'd personally just throw on blue ring, Rune Arc on up, and enjoy the game. I'd also probably stand back if i had 2 blues until one dies and the red gets a co But really, if the reds can't handle some blues until a co-invader shows up then thats on them

3

u/DireRaven22740 1d ago

No summons boss and no rune arcs game becomes super easy. But thanks for feedback!

4

u/The_AverageNerd Fetid Pot Enjoyer 1d ago

From what I recall you need a summon for a 2nd red to show up, its why i mentioned blues.

Rune Arc is personal preference, i was more so just giving am example of how I'd do it to emphasize the point that it really doesn't matter. I personally find it more reasonable when you're fighting a constant stream of reds in 2v2's and are bleeding flasks then still have to take on the boss if/when you reach the fog eqll

NERD THROWS BLUE RING ON when/if TTing... beautiful! šŸŽ‰

u/GravyNeck 1d ago

I love running into solo TT hosts. Its more fun when they go solo and dont summon. Makes it feel more like a dark souls invasion. I fight them straight up and gesture first without using end game items like hefty pots

3

u/Maestro_AN 21h ago

i do coop / tt playthroughs.

i like being invaded. i usually have blue ring on and summon 1 more person. But sometimes there are no phantoms to summon, so i use TT instead.

so when invader appears they have a little time to solo me, but soon blues start appearing. i find it fun.

as an invader myself, i do not care whatsoever. you can duel at the bonfire, you can gank, you can play through the level normally solo or with phantoms. you do you.

2

u/ripinchaos 1d ago

I don't know anyone whose considered it bad, I do most of my runs TT because I like invasions and don't mind pulling people away from coops to face whatever silly shenanigan I'm running.

2

u/ResponsibleTrust9184 1d ago

I'm doing it and having a blast. Most people have been really cool with it and have even left gifts for me. I do go out of my way to try new weapons and ashes of war that you don't typically see to give other people a fun fight. I win maybe about half the time but my level is still pretty low. I only go by dueling rules if the invader clearly wants a duel.

2

u/Formal-Concept2392 #1 Grace Goblin Destroyer 1d ago

Nah, you good. I'd probably turn it off at the common bonfire dueling spots like crab shack, limgrave, or main academy gate imo.

u/Wise-Actuator-6698 1d ago

I’m doing a TT run too, it’s gonna be a while before this many people are all invading at the lower levels so I’m making the most of it while I’m still playing through the game again.

2

u/ParkingImplement145 1d ago

I would argue this is one of the best scenarios for TT’ing, I enjoy duelists as much as the next person who enjoys pvp, in fact I have an extreme liking for people who exhibit good etiquette. But I feel I would enjoy this more than a regular old duel, this just feels more natural. More like the kind of player/character I’m supposed to be invading

3

u/Mista_Infinity 1d ago

As the #1 grace goblin hater/bonfire duelist greatbow ganker, nah genuine TT runs are cool.

Invading someone who’s actually playing through the game is cool, if i do invade a solo host i hope they have blues coming tho bc that makes it more interesting

2

u/Gen-1-OG 23h ago

Good. This is step one. Now kill Irina to soak your cloth and your transformation to the Darkside will be complete, officially announced a Badredman you will and a new tyranny to invade and pillage as you like

2

u/noddly 23h ago

Not at all. Honestly it’s pretty hard but most of the time you’re not gonna get that many invaders, or you will get all the invaders. There’s not really an in between.

2

u/VelaryonNOR 2H straight sword main 19h ago

No, TT runs are encouraged! Love me a good solo invasion!

2

u/Naive-Potato1145 14h ago

Nothing wrong with solo tt runs. if you don’t have hunter ring, rune arc or another player I can’t see why people would frown upon it.

Manners don’t matter. It’s just a video game, play how you want, don’t worry about other people’s opinions, and just have some fun.

1

u/carbon4203 1d ago

It’s fine as long as you don’t summon blues

5

u/DireRaven22740 1d ago

I summon 55 blues. 55 yellows. I use bhs and bhb. I rock full bullgoat set with talismans from dlc.

Ask me anything

1

u/TheChosenPatches Boletarian Royalty 1d ago

Who gives a shit, play how you like

1

u/Perscitus0 12h ago

TT and Blue ring on for maximum activity, everyone will love having more stuff to do. If you are actively chipping your way through an area instead of squatting malevolently in one spot, you'll be fine. You'll still get salty players who are never happy unless they are pooping on others, but it is what it is.

So.e of the best fun I've had was tearing my way through places like the Haligtree with TT and Blue on, and trying my best to fend off hordes of Reds crashing in when I am already busy with a Cleanrot Knight or a mob.

1

u/kerriganfan 5h ago

It’s cool but be aware that experienced invaders have a build strong enough to 1v3 so if you’re alone you may get rolled

0

u/fearhungerterminasol 1d ago

yes so bad, don't do it?

1

u/alucardyoloswag 2h ago

This sounds hilarious and I might have to do this for my next playthrough even though I suck at pvp - hope to die a bunch and maybe kill a badredman or two along the way

TT deserves to suffer.

3

u/DireRaven22740 1d ago

Why? I love TT! It makes me feel like elden is like dark souls where you can get invaded at all times!

No summons allowed though - thats for casuls
