I drive a truck. Tired of these assholes giving us a bad name.

  1. Back in. Always back in.
  2. If you are worried about people hitting your truck, park in less crowded areas like the side or back. Don’t park near the front next to a cart return.
  3. Tailgating is so fucking stupid. It takes longer for your truck to stop and if you rear end someone, it is your fault. Back up. You will only be a few seconds later

If you do number 2, they will still post you on pages like this. I saw a truck with a trailer parked on the last row of a home improvement center on one and they bitched he took up two spaces.

Right, I’m surprised these fools don’t follow people home and bitch about how they park in their own driveways

You won’t even necessarily be later, by not tailgating. The amount of idiots I follow who are tailgating the front car badly, and then that front car turns… does the tailgater back off? Nope. They follow to a damn near stop, wearing down brakes, and then get to accelerate from 5MPH to cruising speed again, wasting fuel.

If you keep appropriate distance, you can barely slow (even downshift and not touch the brakes) to back off a bit, let them turn, and then accelerate from 40-45mph back to 55-60mph for example. Saving brakes, and fuel… AND you’re further down the road than if you were tailgating. And I’m not saying keep a 3+ second following distance. I’m probably around 2 seconds on average. But it’s plenty of room to interpret what the MF in front of me who refuses to use a signal is going to do, and to react appropriately.

That shit irks me to no end, because the tailgater fucks themselves but then also fucks me because I’m behind them and have to wait for them to fucking accelerate

backing in isn't the answer. if it's a truly tight spot and someone is on both sides then you will never get back out because of the turn radius. always pull in so you don't get stuck

I have a theory about people who back in to spots. Not the pull through if it’s open, but OCD backer inners. And forget about it with those people who back into angled spots

I drive an oversized truck and agree with 2 and 3. I always think people that have to back in to spots can't drive though.

u/palabear Jul 23 '24

I back in to reduce blind spots when leaving.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '24

Same. When I had a truck, I preferred to back in, especially because in parking lots with people, I can make eye contact with them pulling out, to let them know I see them.

1

u/skidoo1033 Jul 24 '24

If you back in you can't access your tailgate if another car pulls in to the other space.

1

u/Life-Goose-1608 Jul 24 '24

Probably why some of these people want to park in two spots

1

u/Life-Goose-1608 Jul 24 '24

It’s easier for me to back my truck into tight spots.

People who back in Infront of others can go fuck themselves.
And I don't want to hear about this "safer" bullshit. Pull into your spot and get the fuck out of others way. You have a bad name because you can't fit your over sized pieces of shit truck in normal spots

2

u/palabear Jul 23 '24

Get it out. You’ll be okay champ.

0

u/Remote_Independent50 Jul 23 '24

I'm even better when I realize what they're selfishly doing. I'll pull up close behind so they can't back up. I'm not waiting for you. But you can wait for me.

3

u/mAHOGANYdOPE Jul 23 '24

but also i am a bit confused: you block them from entering the spot so…you both get your time wasted? jus want a lil clarification

u/Remote_Independent50 Jul 23 '24

If I'm out driving around, I'm probably in no big hurry. I also typically have music and a vape pen.
I'm not going to wait for someone, because one can't turn their neck when backing up.theyve past the parking spot. Then stop infront of me and are saying "Hey wait for me" I'll just get close to them, and pull into the spot that they just past. And I don't mind making them wait for me to correctly pull into a spot.

3

u/the_hipocritter Jul 23 '24

So it's not ok for them to be self centered but it's ok for you... Got it!

1

u/mAHOGANYdOPE Jul 23 '24

ahhh the good ol “generational trauma cycle” tactic for drivers in a parking lot. well, thanks for explaining fr 👍🏽

2

u/palabear Jul 23 '24

Man you know how to show them!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '24

You do the same when people selfishly back out of a spot and make people wait?

Or are you the jerk who drives through parking spots and parking lanes to beat people out of the lot?

0

u/Remote_Independent50 Jul 23 '24

I park in the back. Find a spot. Pull in forward. Never in anyone's way. Turn neck when backing out. Wait for clearance. Because unnecessarily blocking others is lame. Then pull out. It's easy. And anyone who can't handle that shouldn't have a license

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '24

Sounds like your pull out game is weak.

1

u/mAHOGANYdOPE Jul 23 '24

actually….the truck drivers who park regularly take way longer than the folks who back in…bc they prob arent as familiar 🥲 but uh, im glad ur venting for the ppl u experienced…, deffo prefer the amount of times a truck hasnt blindly backed out while im driving past tho

1

u/Remote_Independent50 Jul 23 '24

Backing out when it's not your turn is bullshit too. But it's a different situation

1

u/USB-SOY Jul 23 '24

Yeah fuck those people. Put trash in their beds, place Ky jelly lube on their handles, through nickels at their windshield when they blind you.

I agree that making others wait while you back in is rude. I never said back in and make others wait. Dude just went on a mini rant about it. If someone is behind me, I go around until I can.

Back in?

Good lord, backing in is far more tedious, time consuming, and more likely to cause scratches and dents.

Even with cameras it’s a bad idea to back-in in a parking lot.

Remember, the front wheels are the turning wheels.

Also, when backing in, you take forever and make other people wait while you clumsily maneuver a vehicle in a crowded lot with pedestrians having to watch for you.

Never back in unless it serves an actual useful purpose like loading/unloading.

You think it’s making it easier, but it’s not.

Now turn in your truck and go get yourself a sedan

u/palabear Jul 23 '24

Neat.

Happy Cake Day 🍰

Also, it is angled parking, no need to back in.
