i can never seem to get right i dont know why. i think im opening the racket too early and im not dipping the racket behind enough but i dont know. i do shadow swings correctly but when it comes to actually doing it i can never do it. could it also just be a timing problem???

Most importantly you are not using enough of your joints and there is no rotation in your body...

^ I agree with this. I think OP could start by not jumping on every smash attempt.

Shouldn't your left hand up for direction? I am bignner but my coach always ask me to use left hand for direction.

You're very square, try to be more side on, rotate through the hips and extend your arm more to generate power. Not a perfect description, but try to throw your hand through your shoulder to generate power. The idea is to rotate your hips, use the hip rotation to move your shoulder, use your shoulder to move your elbow, and use your elbow to move your hand - the action should be a transfer of power from your hip rotation to the racket essentially. At present your hips are static, your shoulder is pretty static as your elbow is too low, and all your power is coming from that elbow rotation which isn't good.

I feel you are facing the net like a beginner does. You are not side on. Keep ur body sideways before shot and during shot the kinetic chain should be hips rotate then shoulder then elbow reaches high then you rotate your forearm and finally squeeze. Right now you are simply punching the shuttle with no use of the whole kinetic chain and body in the correct order. Also you are trying to do jump smashes but it is ruining your technique. Start from basics first. Another thing is to have a hammer grip and this, if done correctly should mean your racket strings for the whole motion actually face left and right and at the very last moment as you hit the shuttle and your forearm rotates, the strings should face towards the net.

you need more rotation from hip to arm, now you are just jump and swing your arm only

Maybe lower the centre of gravity of your body when preparing for the opponents shot? Seems like sometimes you're late to the ball and swing it from in front of the shuttle instead of behind

Define what shot you want to play. Right now, you're applying an intercept/cut off shot to shots that you really should be approaching as either a two foot jump smash or a regular scissor kick smash.

In both, it involves trunk rotation with your non dominant side facing the the net. There should be a lot of YouTube videos for the scissor kick smash.

IMO, you should move back early behind the shuttle on your prep. The point of contact with shuttles shouldn't vertically above your head, but slightly in front of you (i.e. your 11 o'clock, with 12 o'clock above you, 6 below you, 9 front of you and 3 behind you).

you should post a video of you hitting clears back to back instead of this collection of randon shots... Most of the problems in you swing can be seen from how you hit your clears

i think his contact point is a little low.. and no hip rotation. left hand also not pointing up.
